Mercury Extended Warranty

I searched and found that some of the members have the Mercury warranties. I have done my research and they are a publicly traded company with over 4 billion in assets, bbb and am best ratings are good. I am interested in how they have been for you guys. I am worried that with all the fine print they can get out of almost any claim... I just hate to drop 3500 bucks and still end up paying for the repairs for some unseen BS reason.

Thanks!

my $0.02,

1) get the car inspected by a MB dealer.
2) if the car is good, and you want to buy it, put $3500 into an account and when you need a repair you have the money.

unless that damn radiator/tranny line gives and smokes my radiator and tranny. 3500 is not going to go along way towards that repair. Fact is 3500 can be spent real quick on these cars, especially with this airmatic suspension. I just dont want an aftermarket warranty that is crap...

Does your car not qualify for an MB warranty?

went with the Mercury Platinum 3500 bucks- 3yr/36000

http://www.autowarrantybroker.com/ex...yContract.aspx

Called my SA at MB and she said they were easy to deal with. The Platinum does not list what they will repair just what they will not repair which according to the SA that is what you want. Apparantly if they list what they will fix terminology and MB specific parts tend to get left out and are not covered. This quote is the one she said to look for "For Platinum Coverage, We will reimburse You or an authorized repair facility the Repair Cost to repair or replace any Component of Your Vehicle"...

In any case i hope it works out ok... i follow up after a claim and let others know my experience.

Good purchase, Mercury is one of the easiest warr companies to deal with. Coverage is very good with their platinium plan!

I bought a Mercury exclusionary plan for 10 years 100K miles, with a $50 deductible. My dealer has a relationship with Mercury and they said they were really great to deal with. Shop around for price. I bought mine from a Mitsubishi dealer for my 05 e320 for $2600. There is a price difference if the car is still under factory warranty or not. The best price is available for customers with at least 30 days of factory MB warranty left prior to purchase of the Mercury plan. Only buy an exclusionary plan. These plans have a great deal of government regulation, as opposed to a listed components plan. Wear items like tires, brakes (except for breakage, not wear), interior trim, body parts, paint, shocks/struts, and fluids (except as part of a repair) are not covered. Working from memory, I think wheel bearings and some other common items are also not covered for common wear.

The warranty is also transferable, great for boosting resale.

Warranty

Has anyone had experience with Warranty Direct? They have a similar exclusionary plan, transferable, etc. Am considering a 2 yr. extension on my 2008 E-class. Am considering both of these warranty companies.

I was reading the articles on warrantiesgonewild.com and yes, it seems that companies can use clauses that are built into their contracts to get out of paying on claims. It is though impossible to be highly rated and well reviewed and never pay out. You should be fine.
