Bluetooth Pairing and Phonebook Download
In our new 2009 E Class, the Motorola W755 paired and downloaded the phonebook without any problems. Sends and receives calls and works as it should. Wireless service is Verizon.

Does it..........
It does not download the address book automatically. There is a menu on the Command to do that, and that is all you have to do, and only once! I probably have close to two-humdred entries and it just took a few seconds to download.

Please report but I doubt the dealer can do anything, unless you are going to visit the phone dealer/manufacturer. Which phone did you have by the way, is it listed compatible with the car BT interface?

I have Motorola, LG and HTC phones. All are paired well, however addressbook transfer doesn't work. All these phones worked flawlessly with BMW BT, so I guess new E class has some software problems. My Motorola phone is Rzr V3 which obviously listed as supported. Since Cali has new handsfree law, I can push dealer telling that the car doesn't fit safety requirements of the state.

The phonebook download is matter of the phone compatibility with the BT adapter. Try Nokia series 40 handsets. Not sure anbout Motos and there is no menu on the command for phonebook download. The system hsa to do with th eBT profile - handsfree profile, car profile etc... Unfortunately MB did a very poor job selecting that company Piker acoustic to build thier BT adapters. They suck big time.

I think the new unit has big potentials. Only one thing has to be added as supporting USB modems, so you can browse internet, send e-mail, download music and so on. My problem that the car has early date of production, as 06/08, people reported that cars of 07/08 and later do not have phone book transfer problems with all phones including iPhone.

MB even used to have the more restricted browser option for WAP browsing but it was removed when WAP browsing became obsolete.
The problem here is that browsers too become obsolete almost monthly. Old browsers are limited to some basic stuff, hardly would support the new MUSA website.
Of course I can set my phone display shown on Comand through the AUX video input but then I have to use my phone buttons for browsing, not as easy as it would be with Comand.

An example is the iPhone implementation. If the first generation iPhone worked perfectly in Euro cars but they stopped after a SW update, the same with the second generation iPhone using the same SW. Now shouldn't the fault be at iPhone when their change made it not work? In my opinion equally in this case, the problem could be at the MB adapter or the iPhone.

Question is why software of other vendors more tolerant to profiles/version changes? It remands me XX century old school programming when a very small change can ruin software. Currently everyone creates adaptive algorithms which are capable to accommodate to profile/version fluctuations and even discover new ones.
If you put 89 gas you expect that your engine start, however for MB software 91.1 will look problematic.
Just discovered another problem with MB BT, DTMF tones do not work, so now I have to use my phone to enter meeting numbers and passwords.
