Best Parking lights to get?
I have bi-xenon oem lights on my car and am disgusted with the yellowish oem parking lights..really doesn't look right and I don't know why Mercedes did that with this vehicle but thats
. What I want to know is whats the best bulb to get that matches the xenon the closest?? I know...I know this topic has been beaten to death but the numerous threads(which are outdated 2003-2006) I read about suggest piaa 19169 as the best looking to match the bi-xenon lights. Problem with that is...They are discontinued. Can't even find them on ebay. All I am seeing are 19172 bulbs(and this was mentioned as looking too blue to match with the xenon headlights). Any suggestions?

hey i used both of those piaa bulbs and neither were blue enough for me. I actually had to end up wiring resistors and using led's to be happy. just figured i'd let you know my experience. oh, by the way... my fogs are also hid... so maybe thats why.. i also changed out door and mirror puddle lights and license plate lights to led also..

Those are 19172 bulbs..and in most of the threads..those were considered "too" blue. In your expeirence, how good do they match the oem bi-xenon "Whiter" light?

thanks for the info..Can you put a pic up of the led's..or is there a thread on that..

the piaa's were maybe a little blueish, but i couldnt stand having a blue light bulb in the chrome housing in front. If you have stock hid's, 4300 K, then they match up pretty well... but i changed out my stock bulbs to 8000K, and then got a Mtec hid kit for my lower fog lights, so the piaa's no longer matched anything on my car.. so it was time for the led's. FYI, if you ever think about upgrading your stock hid bulbs to a higher color rating, just go ahead and get 8000K, becuase i went from 4300k stock, to 6000K aftermarket, to 6000K philips ultinon(VERY EXPENSIVE BULBS) , and then finally wasn't happy until i got 8000k put in there ( purple-ish blue). The led's are easy to install.. plenty of room in front by the connectors to wire a resistor... I haven't taken any pics of my car since i joined this forum. I was going to wait until my conversion was done and lowering was done and etc... but if you want pics of leds, i can try and get some up this weekend for ya.. just let me know.

I decided to go against the piaa and take a risk on these Japanese parking lights...JDM Blue T10/T15 Wedge Light Bulbs. They match pretty good...There is a lil blue tint but it does not look that bad. Of course I have a blue car so it matches pretty well.

without a capacitor you will get dashboard msg if using t10/15 wedge led bulbs. I found out the hard way.
Possibly the best (or not) kept secret to matching your DRL to your own 6k bi xenon is to buy the 168/194 blue bulbs at autozone.

I didn't get any messages neither did a couple of other guys that got the same bulb.

I guess I'm just unlucky then ... I bought the t10 wedge LEDs from ijdmtoy.com and had a lot of problems with that pair. Did you do/add anything else before/after installing your led wedges?

Nope they were plug and play. And I know of at least two others who put them in without any issues. Do you have "made for Europe" w211??..or what is the model you have.

To be honest maybe your car just had previous problems. I know my lights stay on after car is turned off and locked for about 30 seconds(I'm pretty sure the timing can be adjusted just havn't looked in the manual).

the stock HID color temp on mercedes is 4500 I believe,,
5000 is perfect white on the scale, and the brightest in terms of lumins
as you go past 5000, to 6000 and 8000 the color gets more BLUE and purple, but also gets weaker brightness.. and less lumins..
the perfect senarios would be to have 5000 on all lights, to be even,
but no one makes 5000,,
mercs HID is 4700 which is close.. so if you get some phillips hallogen super white, which are 4600 I think that is VERY close if you dont have HID fogs,, or if you have HID ballasts already,, then 4500-6000 is closest you can get..

trouble with 8000k bulbs is they are not as bright as 4500 or 6000
so you lose alot of lumens which if you do highway driving,, signs dont light up as far away,, but it does look cool..
5000k is the whitest and brightest temp,, as you go higher than that it gets bluer and less bright..
personally I think 6000 is the best compromise.. between white light,
and brightness

i think i heard that the 2009 E's with the Bi-Xenon comes with matching parking lights in terms of color. Does anyone know if this is accurate, if so does anyone have a part number? We maybe can purchase this bulb from the dealer...
