Ball Joints Replacement

My MB Dealer replaced the ball joints under my CPO warranty coverage last week. I didnt' see where they then did a wheel alignment.......isn't a wheel alignment required after replacing ball joints?

There are joints like those related to the stabilizer bar where alignment definitely is not needed after replacement. If I remember right, the workshop instructions for most other joints neither suggest alignment. Most of the joints are "pushed in place" and are extremely accurately tooled, nothing much where the alignment would change (unless alignment has been done for worn joints).

I had them changed on my car too. They did not need to align the car. It was about 15,000 miles ago. If the car got out of alignment then I would have bad tires by now. All is still fine.

Get an alignment. I had the joints replaced on our E500 and the car would not drive straight. Fortunately I had a lifetime alignment at another firm. I took it to them and they overlooked the new parts and did an alignment.

FYI:
Modified ball joints replace the originals for the 211 (went into series production 1/07) which include a metallic race fixed between the joint and sealing bellows to improve service life – part #A2113300435 replaced in pairs.

Thanks. Mine are bad. They want $1700. Is that right?

Are we really talking about your joints? Then $1700 sounds fine but if it is the car, any pair of joints cannot be that much (even including the work).

Edited: the big lower joint is about 50 euros plus tax. The smaller ones are about 35 euros or so.

I'm starting to think an independent shop could have done it. *sigh. I brought it to my local Mercedes and they wanted 630. The first shop said the ball joints have to come with the arm, so it makes it expensive. Were they just trying to rip me off?

I asked my Benz dealer that I'm at now what the part number is, and he gave me the one you listed, konigster.
