Windshield

Had my car in for service this week and was given a loaner (ML350...o.k. I guess). Anyway, I noticed a little sticker on the lower passenger side of the windshield that is a Mercedes "signature". Mine does not have that. Do all MB cars have that? Since I bought mine used I wondered if it originally may have had one and perhaps the windshield was replaced before I bought it?

Those all come on the windshield from the factory. Sounds as if your windshield has been replaced and the sticker left off.
Stop by your local dealer or call me at 513-870-1030 and I will mail you one.

There's at lease one poster here who scraped his off because he didn't like it.

Actually, I would like one and I will call. thanks so much. But based on the idea that someone might have just removed it, is there anyway to determine if a windshield is original? Markings, etchings, stock numbers, etc?

Saint-Gobain-Sekurit is one of the OEM suppliers of MB Glass, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't a replacement piece of glass done after production... but why worry? Slap the decal on & you're good to go. Assume someone removed it.

I'm one of those who scraped off the sticker.

More likely, replaced windshield. Who's the maker?

It's cool, I am not worried about it, just trying to piece together history of my car that I may not know about (much like i did by looking at the stored settings in Nav). It's a 2005 and only had 24K miles on it when I bought it in May, and the condition tells me it was well taken care of.

Originally I could not find a label on the window, but I eventually found the Saint-Gobain-Sekurit name under the inspection sticker (which we have here in NC).

That sticker was the first thing I took off (even before the badge on the trunk ;-) on this Benz as well as my previous ML500.

I don't get the point: Why do I need a sticker on my windshield that tells me (or others) that I'm driving a Mercedes?

Oh well - I guess I like the "clean" looks...

My '03 came with the "G. Daimler" signature style of sticker; I thought that it was a keeper so it's still where the factory put it. Sometime in the past few years, I think, they changed to a different style that says "Mercedes" or "Mercedes-Benz" in an antique font. Not so attractive, but then like most people, I think that what I have is superior to whatever came later.

The OEM windshield, on at least some cars, should have the MB 3-pointed star. Mine was replaced by the previous owner and it says LOF Made in Finland. I'm assuming it was an insurance job and their company refused to pay for MB replacement glass. I have also been told by a dealer service department that the MB glass comes from the warehouse with the sticker already attached. You can buy one from a dealer for $1.50 (the last time I checked).

Yeah I like the G. Daimler signature, but the new one's just say Mercedes Benz. Wouldn't take off the daimler one, but would the mercedes (no point to this).
