I don't know if it is my ears or your sound system but my HK7 system is plenty loud and it sounds great IMO.

How did reading the manual get your sound system to go any louder? (I'm not being sarcastic, I'm curious as I might be missing something myself).

When reading the manual- I thought/hoped I had the setting in voice mode as opposed to logic-stereo or driver.

I did have the correct setting- and I am somewhat dissapointed in the power of the system.
Yes it has good definition, but i ike definition and power.

I am hoping that there is a setting- or something I am doing wrong.

Hey, being a teenager is not necessarily physical...more of a state of mind. Yeah for all the teenagers pushing 50 out there!

Okay. Most of you who have a home theater system have a sound-pressure-level meter (SPL) to keep things in spec. I took mine out to the garage just to see...

(all measurements c-weighting, fast response. Engine off.)

1. Eminem - "Sing For The Moment" - (Rap) Peaks at 119 db at lower speaker at driver's leg. General range is 107 db - 113 db at driver's head position. Average ~110 db.

2. Paco De Lucia and Al DiMeola - "Mediterranean Sundance/Rio Ancho - (Acoustic Guitar instrumental) Peaks at 118 db. General range is 89 db - 101 db. Average ~92 db without E or A string; ~98 with E or A string.

3. Lyle Lovett - "Ballad of the Snow Leopard" - (great David Rodriguez Folk Ballad) Peaks at 119 db. General range is 102 db - 112 db. Average ~ 105 db.

Now, I don't know what you're looking for, but mine sounds pretty loud and measures loud enough to damage what's left of my hearing (after 30 years of rock concerts).

Hope this is useful.

Chris...
Now you just have to run over to mike_fern2001's place and measure his to see if it is his hearing or something not putting out the proper noise on his HK.

I do know that mine will go much much louder than I ever want to hear it next to my ear. When I wash and Zaino my car I usually have the windows closed and the sound up above medium and it is pretty loud outside the car, even with the windows up.

Mike: I would go through and do a reset back to factory presets, start over. Hit the speaker left button, reset, and the tone left button, reset, and also Options reset to Logic 7 and go from there. The manual does say that if you turn off the unit at a volume higher than the allowed level, the radio will come back on at a lower preset level, and the volume is enhanced by noise inside the car on the Logic 7, but mine would blow me out of the car if I cranked it up with the volume button or knob.

Hi Jim,
I hope u are right and I really really appreciate your advice. I will try it tonight.

I was also thinking the dealer had a guy walk me through the vehicle and its functions.

He set up everything for me before I arrived and I was also thinking (like all night) that maybe he set it up wrong.

will let u know and again tks

( there is no way i can find this 'weak' and all of u find it awesome)

I'd be surprised that the system doesn't sound 'loud', if only because the outside of the car intrudes so little on the cabin with the windows closed.

Really I'm astounded at how well the car insulates the occupants from exterior noise (and this is driving around Manhattan, where there is no shortage of horns, sirens, jackhammers, etc).

It's not this quiet in my *living room* :-)
