Just got my new Car and Driver and was checking out the new Dodge Magnum. *****in!! Chop top look, Dodge RAM Grill, 20" wheels, 430 hp ! and 0-60 in 4.7 all for 33K. Interesting comments about how Chrysler used Mercedes' expertise in rear wheel drive technology, since Chrysler has been desinging their cars based on Front wheel drive technology for the last 20 years. If I had to drive a station wagon (although their not calling it a wagon) this would be it!

Chrysler Pacifica

I am dying to see the Pacifica, which is said to incorporate MB's 4matic technology into a U.S. wagon that looks really nice from the few photos I've seen to date. (The car was supposed to be shown at the Washington, D.C. auto show, but it wasn't. ?)

Cadillac want to match up with bugatti with the 1000 hp car but power is not everything, you must have style to.

Damn, that Magnum SRT-8 is awesome! I am hoping for a AWD V8 model - the 345HP normally aspirated one will do for me. It will replace my 2001 Explorer Sport Trac 4X4. I hate SUV's!

Hottie

That is one hot wagon. How do you think it will compare to the Chrysler Pacifica?

Even thought the Magnum will also come with a V6 it may be after a different type of buyer especially with the Hemi V8 and Supercharged model. The Pacifica is nice but probably geared toward soccer mom/family hauler/minivan duties with third seat option. No 3rd seat option on Magnum. The Magnum SRT-8 looks to be a hot-rod and will likely be hot on the modifier, custom car and street racer scenes. The Pacifica will be built for comfort, convenience and utility and the Magnum will be the extreme opposite.

I like the anti-SUV, anti-MiniVan concept. The SRT-8 with 430HP will be close to the Audi RS6, E55 'wagon on steriods' category.

Both the Pacifica and the Magnum are variants-derivatives of the Mercedes GST concepts. Mercedes is really pushing to create a new category of vehicle

I like them both. However, if Mercedes builds the GST after Pacifca and Magnum they will have a tough time convincing the general public that the Pacifica and Magnum are derived from the GST rather than people thinking that the Mercedes GST followed Chrysler on their platform.

Chrysler and Dodge owners would be pround to say their car is based on a Mercedes platform. However, GST owners would hate the fact that their GST is based on the Pacifica.
