Rear doors

Does anyone know if I can disable the rear door handles so that they can ONLY be opened from the OUTSIDE? My previous ride had a "keyhole" in the door jamb that allowed me to "Lock" the door handle so my toddler couldn't reach over and open the door.

I know about the button on the driver armrest for the window.. but it doesn't seem to block the door handle.. just the window.

Thanks

Peter

Hmmm

Sounds suspiciously like a police car, lol. Do you want a metal screen and some uni-plastic form fit rear seats too?

How about an eyebolt on the floor (for restraining those flailing legs that like to kick out windows)

Just funnin. I'm sorry that I do not have a serious response. Perhaps I shouldn't have added any cents, much less my .02.

Actually EDJ its so that kids can't open the door while the car is moving. I dont know if the W211 has the same thing but it should... its almost standard on any car..

I was told they do not. Probably the reason is that German toddlers take one look at the Autobahn rushing by and forgo any thought of opening the doors.

Seriously- I was suprised to see this ommission. Our salesman explained that once you power lock the doors, the force required to pul the lock handle up on the rear doors is too much for a toddler....Have to wait to see on mine

rear-child proof locks

According to the interactive owner manual

(see http://www.mercedes-benz.com/e/cars/...icherheit.html
thread occupant safety, page 14)

there is still a switch in the door.

Mine has a hole in each rear door where the above child locks are depicted, but no lever or tab protrudes and it does not appear there is any movable mechanism inside the hole. The manual referenced is the German specs.

Mine had a protruding switch in the door. (ie the place where no one can access once the door is close) I think it should be standard for the MBs sold worldwide. Go look for it.
