Could everyone who has documented Service Bulletins post their SB numbers as the subject of their reply on this thread.

The motor mounts have SBN P-B-07.00-21D-DTB

I had the motor mount SB from previous posts when I took my car into dealer for the "ticking" noise. Good thing as the service advisor had not experienced the noise or heard of the bulletin.

They got right on it, confirmed the problem with the SB, changed the mounts and.....no more ticking.

I would be great if anyone has any other SB numbers to share. They really help when you go in for some type of service.

Has anybody read the bulletin and does this SB apply only to the E500?

The motor mount problem was only on the E500. They used the wrong mounts in some of the first production. As far as I know, the later ones do not have the problem.

Could someone reiterate the "ticking" sound? When does this occur? I hear a slight sound like a diesel engine upon moderate to hard acceleration but other than that I don't really hear anything. Is that the sound of the motor mount problem? I thought that just may be the throaty sound of the 500 engine. My E500's production date was 9-30-02

Yeah, that's it
SY

The noise you hear is the engine mounts.

If you look in the engine bay you can see them.

On the right and left sides of the engine down low are light gray rubber buhings underneath some silvery metallic brackets.

The replacement mounts are much taller than what you may have and will 'fill the gap' that you may currently see.

This made a huge difference for mine and my car was mf'd in mid NOV.

Replacement will do two things.
Eliminate idle vibration and eliminate the rattling under medium acceleration.

It sounds like piston slap, it occurs at low speeds when accelerating, around 1500 rpm or so.
