2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Brochure Makes Its Way Onto The Web
Just when you thought you couldn't see any more of the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class prior to its upcoming debut at the Geneva Motor Show, a healthy portion of the model's brochure has made its way onto the Web, revealing completely both the model's exterior and interior styling as well as key technical specifications. This, of course, comes after a prior series of leaked official photos, meaning Mercedes' viral marketing team has either been working overtime or the new E-Class is one of the worst kept secrets in automotive history.
Either way, the European market now knows exactly what to expect from the model, starting with the fact that there will be by our count a total of ten engine variants (not including an AMG model). There's three CGI BlueEFFICIENCY variants – the E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY, the E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY and the E 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY – and there's four CDI BlueEFFICIENCY variants – the E 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, the E 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, the E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and the E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. Rounding out the lot, an E350 BlueTEC, a traditional E 350 4MATIC, and the stalwart E 500 will all be available as well.
More info and the brochure at the link below.

Exterior is evolutionary with a push towards the new. Interior is retro. Too many "slabs" clunky wood treatment on the dash. Shoulda just evolved our interior instead of using a "clean sheet of paper" approach on the interior.
Our cars will hold their value after the new one's arrival for a while... 'till the public warms up to the new interior.
...not liking the new interior.

The rear looks insipid, much like the Japanese luxury cars.
And no, the interior does not look like a BMW. BMW is more spartan and has less buttons.

I do not. Many of us need to plan purchase and can't wait, for example lease end or other causes. So getting some info and opinions now can be involved on decision of spending over $50K.

Fine, so some may be relying on “here say” information to lock in their 50K acquisition. Understand I am not attempting to put the kibosh on anyone’s effort, opinion, or intention here but rather suggest that misinformation has and will continue to surface. As I truly believe you will not be disappointed, might I suggest “refundable deposit” just in case?

I personally never liked the current E class since it looks curvy, feminish, small, and cheap compared to previous E classes. This new one wins hands down as a handsome shape with mercedes like interior with better quality and less plastic. It will be hot seller and will look good in person. I saw it in Germany at a group session for feedback on the car. Wait till you see it in person.

Interesting observations - no LCD panel for a speedometer and it shares many pieces with the W204 (headlamp knob, power door lock switch, etc.).
Can't wait to drive one, and will form an opinion.

It would be nice if MB put the 350 CGI in for the U.S. like they did for the SLK. With the 535i having 300hp/300lb-ft and the A6 3.0T with 300hp/310lb-ft, the w212 needs a little more power than the current 3.5L.

Besides the obvious (IMO) Japanese look-a-like aspects of the car, the more I look at it the more "80's Mercedes" vibe I get from it, especially the interior. It seems like they're drawing back to their 80's look from some of the pictures.
I just really wish they did away with that 50's style rear fender hump thing which makes me continuously imagine a half-wheel cover belongs there.
I'm keeping myself optimistic for when I see it in person though. If I were to like it enough for it to be my next car, it would have to be an '11 model as I'd never buy first year, and it would have to be the AMG Package.

Have any Pics leaked of the new 5-Series yet? I wouldn't pull the trigger on the E-Class personally until I've seen what Bimmer's doing with its new 5'er. I've never liked BMW's as much as I do Benzes, but they really cleaned up the new 7-Series from the god awful mess it was, so maybe they'll do it with the 5 as well.
