Navigation being stupid!! Any techs??
so i was going for a drive about 50 miles away and i wanted to use my navigation. heres the thing now, after i put the address and everything is all set to go, it ALWAYS takes me on through the streets and not on the highway. anybody know what the hell is the problem. and also its like a 2004-2005 i think California DVD.

We in Europe have (usually) three options, fastest route, shortest route and dynamic. One of those must be ticked. The dynamic option takes into account traffic (if the info is available). Are you sure you don't have the shortest route option (and that checked)?

The US W211 system has different options in that menu and does not allow "shortest", etc. I think it allows Avoid Freeways, etc. and ideally none of them are checked, as they are all "Avoid" options.

OK, thanks, good to know. I guess the option to make use of traffic info is included in that list then too (on models that support "TMC", I don't even remember if this was supported by US W211 cars).

I think the WeatherBand (WB) option is there in place of the Settings where RDS can be enabled, etc.

I know the MB NAV has some shortcomings (especially inability to input exact house or building number), but on a recent trip home from an unfamiliar area, the POI feature was really useful, especially the ability to use it while in motion. We found a Dunkin Donuts for a quick lunch right when we needed it, but because (a) it was set back quite a bit from the road (a divided highway with gas stations and stores right off it -- not a limited access interstate), (b) on the opposite side, and (c) with a very small sign, we would never have found it.
BTW, if you're looking for a Dunkin Donuts, don't look under "Fast Food." Just search for all types of restaurants.

alright now im really stuck, when i go to my options in NAV, i have the dynamic, shortest, and fastest routes available. i usually have the dynamic checked. but also i have the "AVOID" ones too. those ones have like avoid: tunnels, ferries, and what not but not the freeway or highway option. so what next, tashakes said something about the version. where do i find that at.
