What is the reason for this behavior? (Airmatic Q)

In the morning when I open the driver's door for the 1st time of the day, Pssssssst... a valve opens... the air is purged, and the car lowers itself. It doesn't happen every time I open the drivers door, but it does for sure in the morning. I guess its not for "easy entry" since the car's not that high, and its not an all the time thing.

Wake-up function occurs with EIS, any door, trunk lid, park brake, and stop lamp switch activation. If level is lower, or higher than normal it will adjust accordingly.

Bizarrely (i'm sure MB has a reason for it), my E500 seems to lower, yet my GL always raises as soon as i open the door...counterintuitive since the GL is already much higher for entry...HMMMM

This is typical especially in colder weather. Nothing to be worried about.

All probably normal when the car levels while waking up. But if it makes a significant level change either way, there could be a leak (a leak can also raise the car it it is the valve passing high pressure air from the reservoir to the strut).

If temperature changes significantly after drive, like from cold weather to a warm garage or from a warm day to a cold morning, the level would need to be adjusted while no issue at all with the car.

It could also be a load change if a lot of people come out from the car when it is stopped and it does not have time to adjust to the load change before switched off (some averaging used for the levelling).
