which 18" AMG wheels fit w211

I think I'm definitely going to upgrade to 18" wheels and I'm leaning heavily towards the AMG brand due to the fact that it is essentially the factory brand.

Which AMG 18" wheels fit on the w211? According to the tirerack the only two options are the 5 spoke type 211 and the type 230 which has many spokes (don't like it much).

Any other options? Seems like Aero II monoblock, 5 spoke type 129, and 5 spoke type 220 are also available in 18". Do they have offsets that could be made to work?

Here is the tirerack link:

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/amg/amg.htm

Thanks

Also, on the AMG web site, they also have a styling type IV for the w211 in 18"

http://www.mercedes-benz.com/amg/e/f...chtmetall.htm#

I think that is the wheel on the E55, but I don't see it forsale at the tirerack. Is that available in the US?

they should be available in the US. The one piece dual-spoke is the same wheel that's on the S55 AMG and CL55 AMG in the States.

Definitely thinking about it for my car once the weather gets nicer in the Northeast - a spring treat.

I just got mine upgraded to the 18-inch AMG's and from the pictures you refer to, they are the type III and look great. I was told that the offset or hub spacing or something like that is new for the W211 and hence older wheels for the w210 will not fit.

One more thing, you could get the non-AMG 5-spoke sport wheels that come with sport package though I think those only come in 17-inch and are back ordered for several months. That was my original plan but then the new AMGs came out and I got those in 18-inch instead.

Barney, if your wheels looks exactly like the picture I posted above, it should be Styling IV. Styling III looks like those in the Euro sport package (5-spoke). See photo below.

I am interested in the AMG Styling IV staggered myself.

Benggolf, the last picture you sent looks exactly like what I have, even the same color! The only thing I did was not go with the larger rears, all are 245/40ZR18 I believe. Thought that was enough rubber for my E320 and this also allows me to rotate the tires which would otherwise not be possible (can't do side to side as my tires are directional, Dunlop SP9000). The sport version they sell in the US has a very different 17-inch 5-spoke wheel. so they appear to offer the standard dual 5-spoke in 16 and 17 inch (these came on my car and I don't think they look very good), the 17-inch US sport version and the AMG 18-inch per the picture you posted. I also see the E55 dual 5-spoke version further up the thread.

Thanks Barney.....

Thanks for your clarification, Barney. Keeping all the 4 wheels the same size to enable tire rotation is an excellent idea.

Style IV staggered!

Has anyone got pricing on StyleIV staggered?

8Jx18 front and 9Jx18 Rears is the match on AMG's website.

Jabo, MSRP quote for AMG Styling IV 18" Staggered wheels is CDN$2,568 (approximately US$1,670) + taxes.

I'm a bit confused re the MSRP for these. If you go to mbusa.com and then the 'build your own' for the E-class, they show the AMG wheel option for about $2800. And remember, these prices don't include the tires, just the wheels.

Barney, the quote was from P&A of the dealership. You should be able to arrange a discount and also a buy-in of your OEM wheels and tires. Only other expense that they may charge is mounting and balancing.

To make things clear, the quote is just for the alloy wheels and does not include tires. Cost of 245/40 ZR x 18 and 275/35 ZR x 18 Bridgestone SO3 tires is CDN$2,240.78 + taxes.

I think I ended up 'paying' about $900 US for the 4 wheels AND the tires but that didn't reflect the true cost. It was my 'negotiated discount' from the dealer. ( I ordered my car back in July when discounts were scarce). Now that I think about it, I think that if I went to the parts department, they were quoting around $2650 for the US sport style 5-spoke 17-inch with tires and they thought the 18-inch AMG's were "a few hundred more" though I didn't have to pay any extra since they couldn't even get the 17-inch in any timely manner. I still have my original 16-inch tires and wheels and would love to sell them. The dealer didn't want them yet, felt the market was too small as they don't fit on the W210 which will represent the very large majority of E-class cars on the road for some time. They would be great for putting on snow tires. I live in a place that doesn't really get any snow so that isn't a useful option for me.

thanks for all the info and pics. I think I'm almost 100% positive I'll go for style III (5 regular spoke). Tirerack has them for around $2000 with tires depending on what tires you get.

Potxoli, are the wheels you mentioned from Tirerack OEM or knock-offs?

Original AMG wheels, not knock offs.

Go to http://www.tirerack.com/ and go to wheel configurator, select a 2003 Mercedes E and it gives you all the options including picking wheels.

Wow, that's kind of pricey for 18"s. For my w211, I paid $2,000 for my 19" staggered AMG's with Pirelli Z rated tires. Ask for Jeff at Globe Motorsports in west LA. It's an affiliate of 310 motoring.
