lease buyout discounts

what is the size of the discount that people with leases ending soon have been offered my MB Financial and did they include an extended warranty?

Mine was 10k on an 07 E350, still too high at just over $30k. Had 18k miles. I got into a new one instead. $14k discount from sticker. They are really wanting to move these now.

AC the problem is i want the white leather that came with the saks and they don't have it anymore and they pretty much only have the non-leather option these days...what options did you get on your 2009? how much did you pay? did you lease it? what is the difference between your new 2009 and the 2007? Do you think I should buy my 2007 saks edition with 30,000 miles for $30,000 from MB financial as that it what they are offering me right now which is about $12,000 off. I could also buy a new 2009 or extend my lease for 6 months and buy a 2010...the problem is my wife doesn't really like the way the 2010 looks.

Ultimately it's you that needs to decide! Is there something in the 2009 that you like better? The upgraded COMAND vs the 2007 COMAND?

Personally, if I had maintained the car well and it hasn't been in an accident .. looks good .. low mileage ... I'd buy it if the price was good and appears to be in your case.

I don't love the 2010 and i'm sure they won't discount very much when they come out...I don't think it's worth buying the 2009 even if they discount them $10k like the dealer offered me...my only choice is to extend my lease 6 months for about $700/month and then see how much they will offer me to sell me my car then or just buy it now

Rotat,

Does the $30,000 price include sales tax? Find out.

Your car is worth about $26,000 at auction. If a dealer were to buy it and re-sell it, they would probably price it at $31,000 and end up selling it for around $29,000 (assuming you're a tough negotiator). So, at $30k you're not that far off.

If the $30k price they are offering you includes sales tax, then (assuming you pay 6%), you are really paying $28,200 for the car which is a very good deal!!!

Hope this helps.

That means that they are offering you the car for $29,704. You should not expect to pay less than retail, but MBF should not expect to get more than auction. Explain this to them and tell them to meet you in the middle: $27,854 plus tax: $29,525.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

baxterdown they do not negotiate at all...you are just talking to a phone rep who has no authority whatsoever to change the price...they have a calculation that they use and it is nothing like sitting in some dealership and waiting for the manager to change the price 40 times...you either accept their offer or you return the car...hard to evaluate what my car is worth since it's the Sak edition with many many options

Insist on speaking with a supervisor. It is possible to negotiate on the phone. About six months prior to a lease expiring on one of my other vehicles, I was able to knock $6.5k off the residual of $27.5k; that was when vehicles were selling, when gas was cheaper. I spoke to a supervisor, then his supervisor then his manager. Being a ruthless negotiator, I enjoy breaking down the toughest and most experienced sales persons, ones who would not give a dime away, especially car sales people selling vehicles at an already keen price.

In the present climate, buyers of any product or services, have tremendous negotiating potential. One cannot negotiate with a duffer however. You are correct in thinking it is easier to deal with managers and even extremely experienced and tough sales people. I wish I could offer a service to others; if I had the time, I'd do it for fun.

believe it or not I called today as my lease is over in 30 days and they say the price has now gone up to 35k, which is 5k more than they said last month...they say the used car market is stronger as nobody can afford a new car...has anybody else experienced this
