4matic wheels vs non 4matic wheels??

I have an '05 e500 4matic w/the 5 spoke 17's. One of the front wheels has been cracked since I picked up the car and the dealership claims that I must buy a replacement wheel that is made for 4matics only. Is this true? My dealerships service is horrible and I hate to say it but don't trust anything they say.

Wow ! What a crock. Their are certain wheels in the MB wheel catalog that are for use on cars with "sport and/or airmatic suspensions". Even that may be an unnecessary restriction.

The only wheel restriction on 4matics (and some members don't follow this either) is that you shouldn't mix wheel sizes, front and rear.

Take the wheel off and look on the inside for the part number. It's cast in.

It will either begin with B6 or A211, and both may be present.

Look up the part number (don't enter A or B) here

Thanks everyone- I will take the wheel off and look at the numbers. I am so fed up with this dealership. To think that my family purchased 6 new mercedes from them in the last 3 years...

Well, I have a 4-matic and I had OEM 16" wheels. I purchase the OEM looking 5-spoke 17s as a set of summer tires and they all fit. The only issue is that I use different lug bolts, but that is because they are different rims.

It sure sounds like a crock of *****,

Steve

Tirerack

discount tire, since the new generation 4matic is just a dummy set up v.s. the first gen 4 matic you can even stagger rim width as long as rolling tire diameter is kept at stock diameter front and rear.
plenty of choices on both of those sites for the 4matic and most likely a whole set for less than one oem replacement from that stealership.

if you want one oem of that style and et,pm me I can find you one.
