REAR BUMPER CUTOUT FOR E55 AMG MUFFLERS

I'm purchasing the set of E55 mufflers that Forum member 155 has for sale.

THANKS for a great deal on a great set of mufflers!

My issue now is how to go about cutting the rear bumper of my E500 in order for the quad exhausts to fit. I hope to get an AMG rear bumper later on, but those of you that are married know the wifey has VETO power (WHY do you need to change anything? The car looks FINE! ). Hopefully sometime in the future...

155 mentioned he believes someone has a template that will work?

ANY help anyone can give me on this would be GREATLY appreciated!

THANKS and greetings from Chicago!

just bring it to the muffler shop or your body shop to cut the bumper. Make sure to mearsure the width of those exhaust tips on each side then tell them cut it for you. I feel u on whatever u said in the red highlight .

I have done it myself. Wasn't excessively difficult. Ive mentioned the cutout dimensions in one of my posts about the exhausts.
Good luck, the 'zorsts are uber nice!

Honestly, I had Midas cut my bumper for me way back before I had my E63 rear bumper.

It's been so long since my car looked like that. Anyway, keep in mind that the tips won't stick out very far until you get the proper rear bumper.

Good luck.

Finally did it guys!

Got tired of having the E55 mufflers sitting in my Office while I try to find an AMG rear bumper, so I had a local Body Shop install them and cut the OEM E500 bumper.

Will say I'm not thrilled with the outcome, but considering they only charged me $250 for the whole thing it'll do for now. At least until I find that E55 rear bumper I'm looking for .

Here are some pics:

They even installed finishing trim on the cutouts, great work. Since your car is black, can't tell if there is imperfection. Great looking bumper!

Thanks man! At least it's better than having the muflers sitting in my home office .

Once I find/install an E55 rear bumper they should look perfect.

Last month I was deciding if I was going to buy the E63 or E63 with Peformance package or the E550 with AMG sport package (all white color). I really can't tell the difference on all three bumpers, except the AMG has dual tip exhaust and that goes for the E55 also. If I did purchased the E550, I would have to find parts to upgrade. Luckily I opt for the E63 w Perf pkg and there is not much I need to upgrade, maybe the engine later on, but thats going to be a while. Wish you luck finding an E55 bumper.

Honestly, with the finishing trim and with the way it came out, I don't why you would think about swapping it out for a E63 bumper. The thing looks beautiful, an A+ job IMO. I would stick with it, I think it makes it look more custom. They did a really good job.

THANKS man!

It looks much better in person than in pics (as things always do I guess). I might just leave it like that. UNLESS I happen to come across an OEM E55 or E63 for a good price .
