2004 Mercedes Benz E320 4matic wagon
SBC hydraulic unit story

well here is the story to the best I can tell
the optical display said to visit work shop for Brake malfunction
took it to my Local Euro Independent
they told me that the SBC was dead (too high of a pressure reading) and to call a MB Dealer
called the dealer said I have a failed SBC unit, they asked me the year (2004)
as soon as I said 04 they said to get it to them
he logged my VIN and it popped up $3k unit for $0and as many replacements until 2014 as I may need
no hassles no question just here is your C300 4matic we will call you tomorrow

c300 felt a little cheap - kinda like a neon with leather

So I take it they're fixing it hassle free correct?

Yeah, every time I get a C Loaner I'm in disbelief toward how cheap and non-refined/luxurious it feels.... For an M-B at least.

The SBC brake system are now warranted by Mercedes for all vehicles for 10 years regardless of mileage from date of service - obviously they've had issues with them - however, unlike some named other German autoamerks MB steps up and admits it, the other one simply denies it and tries to convince you that somehow you "broke" it - no **** - that's why I would never own one of the other German made cars or their motorcycles.

Yeah? What about MB's use of crappy radiators that would leak glycol into the tranny causing $$$ damage. They never stepped up to that. Folks right now getting screwed big time. Even after MB went with a better design radiator, owners of the older rads still have to pay up if out of warranty....

I had a C350 Sport with Nav, Harman/kardon, heated seats and more as a loaner - Holy CRAP! What a POS. I hear raves about MB Tex being all that - it's not. It was soft, but sticky. My shorts kept sticking to it - it felt like soft rubber. And the car rode lik an absolue tank. I had to hold on for dear life to keep from being thrown out of the seat.

Cheapest feeling/looking dash and door panels I've ever seen on a $40,000 car. The spokes on the steering wheel are so small and thin, it looks cheap. But the steering wheel buttons are in a nice arrangement.

My sentiments exactly. Everyone who rode in it was like "this is a Benz"?? Crazy thing is yours was LOADED and it was the same story, mine were mostly C300 bare-bones versions.

IMO it has the worst interior in its immediate class, a step down from the W203 even.

I know nothing about any of that - I only speak from personal experience - to each his own - If I wanted trouble free I'd bought a Honda - or Subaru -

I love the SBC braking system in theory, but just the mere fact that it can fail is extremely disconcerting and scary.

What BMW models have Electronic Brakes BTW? I didn't know any of them did.

YES I have an 2003 E500 and the SBC experienced total brake failure. It was replaced under this warranty.
