Service A Due in a few weeks

I checked all the manuals and there is nothing that explains what Service A entails. The car will be one year old in a few weeks and has around 7000 miles right now. Is Service A basically an oil change, and what are people in the NYC area paying for this on an E350?

Yep ... pretty much an oil change and topping off fluids ... visual inspection.

In NYC area probably $250-$300 .. for simple items like oil changes many do it themselves ....

Hmmm. Let's see, 9 qts of Mobil 1 @ $6.99/qt + oil filter @ (I'm guessing $25) = $88. That's $162 - $212 for at most an hour of low-skill labor. Nice profit margin!

They don't call it the stealership for nothing.

They'll also (supposedly) make sure all the updates have been made to software.

If you need a guy in the NYC area call Eugene at 646-200-2433. He's a certified Mercedes tech from Silver Star Motors in Queens. He opened his own shop and has everything to service the Benz. He's doing my Service A next week.

Thanks for the info. Local dealer quoted me $190 for an oil change. I called them separately to ask about Service A, which is basically an oil change and checking fluids and tire pressures, and they quoted me a whopping $350!!! For the extra 15 minutes it takes to check those other items, that comes out to about $600/hour. So, I think I'll take it to them for state inspection and oil change (which would cost at least $130 at an independent anyway) and check the other stuff and reset the service reminder myself.

I'm getting mine on the 1st of April. Will cost $235 (plus tax). Service A includes first oil change, changing of oil filter, break check, tire rotation, topping off of fluids (break, battery, windshield, etc) and software update (if applicable).

E350 4Matic
In beginning of March I did "Service A" at Sovereign.
Called around 10AM to inquire, was offered 11AM spot.
They had some "$25 Off" coupon deal, so all together it cost me $269 (Tax included)
They gave me a free loaner (even though I am not leasing through them).
I was called to pick up car about 3-4PM.

I'd say overall- I was satisfied. But couple things:
Loaner was R350 with message in display "Service due exceeded by 14 days".
They did not rotated my tires (I am on 4-matic).
