Wiper noise

Quick update for those reading - After two days in the rain with my new Anco inserts that I painstakingly put in, the noise and chatter is back! I'm guessing I didn't hear it the first day is because I put some wax on my windshield. So, don't do what I did!!
I live in Seattle, so I need to get this fixed ASAP or else i am going to go insane!!

Anything that requires repeated cleaning / waxing or whatever to the windshield is not really fixing the source of this problem.
At least that's the way I see it. I don't think there is anything special about MB's windshield glass.
I'm also pretty sure it's not the angle of the wiper arm. The inserts are soft and they will bend away from the direction the arm is traveling as long as the insert is sitting reasonable close to 90 degree.
OEM inserts are just avg. in quality and changing it to a good quality one mostly fixed the problem. I think the remaining issue is the tension of the spring built into the wiper arm. I don't know if there is an easy fix for this.

RE: Wiper Blades
My 07 wipers were quiet when new, and started chattering last fall when temps dropped. I replaced both blades with new correct OEM spec Bosch blades from MBparts.com ($27), and all is quiet again. I also use Rain-X on the windshield about twice per year.
Try replacing the blades with OEM spec replacements.

You really need to change blades.

Do you have a link. Searched that site and no blade that matches that description or even that price. Thanks

I had the exact same problem on my 03 E500. Light rain, it skips and chatters like someone let out somethin bad. It was so loud it would scare my occupants when it activated. Once there was enough rain on the windshield, it would quiet down a bit. I always thought it was because the wipers were old.
I replaced them with some from Costco @ 12 each. I had to dremel down one edge so the fit would be more snug. If you look at the stock wipers, there is a beveled corner on one side, but on the ones from Costco, there was no beveled edge so I dremeled one side to get the bevel. They've been working fine now for the last couple months (since Jan).
I don't know if it's the same with stock replacements, but these took like two weeks to fit snugly onto the windshield due to the extreme bend out of the box.

I bought the Bosch evolutions from Amazon and plan to replace every 6 months. At $15 and free shipping, that's hard price to beat. I also use RainX every couple of months.

Sorry for resurrecting an old post but this noise is annoying. I've used every brand of wiper and now only use dealer MB wipers. I clean the glass and use Rain-X and they are good for a while but ten minutes into a rainstorm and they squeak like crazy.
Has anyone tried to adjust the wiper angle?
Regards,
Peter

The best thing I've tried in solving this is by using PIAA silicone wipers but I guess it started fading out when the silicone was wearing off. That was after 2-3 months of use. It depends maybe how much rain you get. See if you can find one for your car. Now I use Griot's Garage's glass sealant which works well for me.
Good luck!

I had this same problem until I did a clay bar treatment on the windshield. Yup, that same clay bar used on the paint, I used it on the windshield and was amazed at how much dirt and girt it pulled up. Afterwards, the wipers moved smoothly across the glass. I am using Bosch Icon wipers that are now 2 years old.

I'll try some clay bar as the Rain-X isn't cutting it.
New dealer wiper blades didn't solve it even for a few minutes.
ReSince it makes noises both up and on the down stroke, I figured it isn't the angle.
