could you guys go take a look at your cover, i took it out to replace the air filters but during reassembly i noted the larger cover edge will not sit flush on the sides if that makes sense..... is this "normal"?

Nope, not normal. Make sure that all 4 ball & socket connectors are pushed down. I find that passenger rear on mine takes a little bit of down force to get it to pop on. Don't drive you car like this. The rear of the air cleaner seats on the MAF and if it's not seated properly, the MAF will be exposed to contaminants. Not to mention, the filtration system is completely bypassed.

Not normal. Check the metal clips that plug into the plastic cover. Sometimes they come out and remain on the ball.
