Possible 7 Speed Transmission

Possible 7 Speed Transmission
Would there be any significant issues or drawbacks in fitting a 7 speed transmission from an 04 or 05 E into a 2003 E with a 5 speed tranny?
Would the car just have to be told via SDS of the change?

I am having issues with the tranny jerking etc and torque converter may now have to be replaced and no warranty. I may be able to get a 7 spd from a wrecked car with 25k miles so I was considering doing the switch .

Faster?
Burns less gas.
It is going to cost big bucks though. Huge bucks in fact.
You need to find one of the 7 speeds from a donar car and then fit it into the old one and find a new brain to co-cordinate the old engine with the new box.
Buying a 211 with the 7 speed is cheaper.

Huge bucks is probably it.
More likely, it's simply impossible.
These transmissions are electronic and likely somehow "mapped" in conjunction with the engine they're installed behind (not to mention the car type). Nothing about a pre-7 speed car is going to know anything about the 7-speed and I doubt you'll find a way to make it happen.
Perhaps if you want a 7-speed in an earlier car you should both transplant the transmission PLUS the engine and every single bit of electronics related to them from the donor car. I wouldn't go from a C-class to an E-class, either.
"Shadetree" mechanics have surely little to no relationship to 21st century Mercedes.

Worth asking though. A exchange 722.6 transmission should be pretty easy to find for a good price.

Radiator was already replaced. I have done tons of mods and upgrades to this car and the mieage is only 60k , where i live it would cost much less if the tranny switch was pheasible then getting another car.
