Refurbished front Airmatic shocks now available
Not sure if this has been posted before, but here it goes.
[DISCLOSURE] I am not affiliated in any way shape or form to these guys, and have no idea if the product is quality, but just wanted to post for those of us that do not feel like spending a thousand bucks on one shock from the dealer. Remanufactured front shock $399 + $100 core charge (refundable)
I know that as more and more of us are coming out of warranty, this would be useful. My right front shock died about a year ago and I replaced it myself, the process is pretty much the same as replacing a regular shock, with the exception of the air hose and wire harness that must be disconnected (2 minutes). Now I am more at ease about owning a W211 out of warranty.
Hopefully it will help someone out there and can write a review if purchased.

Odd that they do not mention anything about the rear Airmatic springs. Since those are standard on wagons and wagons are pretty popular in Europe at least, I've seen more parts requests for the rear ones. The standard wagon rear spring is marginally different from the Airmatic one though, it does not have the additional air chamber and no adaptive shocks (shocks anyway are separate at the rear).
The price for the front struts seems amazingly low considering the new parts they've put in.

It took the aftermarket to correct MB's problem. The MB engineers still have their heads up their butts on this and many other issues.

The cheapest Website I've found for MB OEM parts is GetMercedesParts.com located in Annapolis, MD........someone posted their site on this forum and I checked it out. Assuming this is the correct part (they don't list the part no.), the front shock for my 03 E500 lists for $1000 and their price is $750 which is not bad but still $350 more than the refurbished ones listed in the first posting of this thread.

I'm going to give them a call on Mon and ask if they'll rebuild 4matic ones if you send them in. I can't believe that the procedure to remanufacture is much different, unless they just can't get the specific parts for the 4matics
Thanks for the link though, a great find !

Correct. My air springs failed 2 weeks ago and replaced under CPO warranty. Shocks are still going. I was suprised to find the springs had failed. Apparently the dealer was not suprised. So tdhe air springs are also a weak link.

Has anybody used these? I'm tempted to order a pair right now. As I have an E class resting on its Right Front wheel well on my driveway.

Strutmasters has kits in stock now for the 2000-2006 S430, S500, and the S55. As more cars go out of warranty and if they get enough interest they will do a run for the W211. Their 4-wheel conversion set is less than $900.

how did the arnott remanufactured shocks work for those of you who have had them on the car long term?
my right front just went out and i'm leaning towards going that route, especially since I will be replacing them myself.
are there any other common culprits other than the airmatic shock/strut to check before replacing it just to be sure?
here's my post on how it happened if that matters:
