Oil leak from valve cover common?
Looked under the hood as i do every couple months and noticed the DS valve cover is not silver, but hint of yellow. Look closer and see that there is oil seepeage from the bolts around the valve cover. How many others on here had oil leaking from valve cover?cam sensor?
I did notice when looking to buy an E500, several E500s had carfax reports where benz dealership replaced valve cover gasket prior to putting them up for sale.
Called dealership ASE of Arlington, VA to set an appt to get it looked at. Car still under CPO warranty. Asked the Service Advisor to run a VMI and only thing outstanding is replace Pilot bushings. Mileage is 30k miles. Taking it in tomorrow.

I think this was a problem on all the 500 motors. I had the driver side gasket replaced on my SL because it was leaking from just below the filler port. I first noticed it after a service and thought the dealer had spilled some oil while filling.

Just got back from picking the car up. Paperwork said check engine for oil leak, check valve cover gasket for oil leak. Finding was left hand baffle had oil seepage and sealant used to repair. Guessing High temp/rtf sealant was used. Wonder why they didn't replace the gasket like you guys did? maybe leak wasn't too much? When i did check the engine oil level, it was good before dropping it off. Also did notice they did clean the valve cover, which was golden honey before. Now its silver to match the other valve cover
Also replaced the pilot bushings via electro hydraulic/tranny under open recall as well. Cost, $0, since still under warranty. Good experience with the service at ASE Arlington Benz.
Only downside was that i had a rental was a Toy Rav. Dropped it off and they had 4 C300's as loaners. Just my luck.

Do you mean cylinder 6 or the valve cover from about the area of cylinder 6? The leak from the valve cover must be really significant if you can see a rapid oil level drop. A quart of oil makes a complete mess at the engine bay.
