agreed i hope the w212's plate is standard white its a necessity now lol then again... i do want to stand out if they don't got it for when i do it, the new c's dont have it yet so perhaps the new e wont?
The new E probably will.
I think they only left it out on the C because someone just forgot about it last minute.
There was huge anticipation for that car and I think they did very well with it, but cmon, the E is just so much better.
The w212's handling will probably be a trillion times better than the w211s though haha.

All you need to do to give it (w211) that sportier handling is put some anti roll bars in and new springs. It would make a world of difference.
New suspension would be an added bonus but a lot more costly.

I see that you have those on your to do list, have you ever test drove a W211 with them on it?

It's definitely not a night and day difference, but yeah it does handle a bit better and more confidently. It is a little floatier and has a bit more roll, and is less stiff/bouncey than my 321 Packaged W211, but the main difference is in steering feel and the whole dynamic of the chassis, best way I can describe the way it drives is exactly like a W211, just a little bit more "dialed in" and confident, but definitely not a whole different animal, or any difference by a large margin.
Once you start messing around with the suspension (sways, etc.) you'll move away from the ride that was intended by MB. And you have to be really careful with suspension mods, because you can easily upset the dynamics of the car. It takes a LOT of testing and trial and error to find the sweet spot. Trust me, I've been doing it with Porsche for decades.
In the end, one has to be ready for some sort of compromise between comfort and a stiffer chassis. I would never trade my Porsche's ride for my MB's ride. Nor would I trade my MB's ride for my Porsche's ride. You simply cannot have both at the same time.
In addition, the MB's are too heavy to use as a canyon carver. This is where the lighter C63 fits the bill much better (p.s., ever drive the C63 with performance pkg? That stiffer suspension will rupture your kidneys on LA's crappy streets.) There is nothing you can do about the weight dynamics. The M3 is a better handling car than the M5 by a long shot.
MB could make some minor changes and they have with the W212. A case in point, my E63 does handle a lot better than my previous E350 and the steering is much more precise. But how far they will go depends on the amount of compromise.

Aggghh... The NASCAR plate just completely de-classes the car, sorry man I can't get over it.
That's my 100% honest opinion and I'm sure other people feel the same way.

But I didn't really mean to imply that it would keep the ride quality, it would definitely hurt it. But I am a person that would sacrifice it for the car to look a little bit better and perform a little more accurately.
I need to lower it though as I am putting some nice big wheels on, and I don't want it to look like a 4WD, but this is just me haha

And it really can't be that different, as the whole point of MB is to have a comfortable ride. And that's a big difference between the "better" handling cars and a MB. It's also why MB focuses on all sorts of technology that attempts to try to combine both (ABC as an example.)

I have driven a E350 with Eibach springs and there was a noticeable difference, but the ride was definitely compromised. I only assumed sway bars would really improve the handling as I drove my friends E39 BMW before and after with them and it was a lot better through the corners, losing a significant amount of roll. I didn't really pay that much attention to his ride quality though when I drove it.
But I didn't really mean to imply that it would keep the ride quality, it would definitely hurt it. But I am a person that would sacrifice it for the car to look a little bit better and perform a little more accurately.

Thanks for the in-depth reply, I'm an avid E39 fan, the best BMW ever made!
But as of right now, ride quality cannot be compromised under any circumstances. I'll stick with my tint, AMG wheels and other non-ride compromising mods right now.
Iight kool...as for on the streets the most I'll get is..."What ya plate means". N they smile n say "ohhh" when I tell em that's it
Anyways, your plate will make you easier to spot around the hood, I'll wave if I'll see you around. Car looks great btw, enjoy!
