2007 E350 Sport
I’m new to the forum and hope to be an owner of a 2007 E350 Sport soon. This would be my first Benz. I’ve own a Lexus, Infinity and Acura in the past and they are all fine cars. I was looking at a 5series BMW but I’m a little weary of the electrical problems I’ve heard about. The E350 Sport is on my list. Most of the cars I’ve seen are Manheim purchases being sold between 27k-33K, depending on options, equipment and mileage.
A few questions;
Ø What is your opinion on cars sold by used car dealers purchased at Manheim?
Ø What is included in the Mercedes 100k warranty?
Ø How many miles are too many for a used Mercedes?
Ø Where are some of the better used car dealers (not MB) in NY (Queens/LI area)
Ø Are there known problems I should watch for with the E350 Sport?
Ø Any opinions on the best equipment for the E350 Sport?
Thanks

I can answer only your last one:
I have all the options except iPod connectivity (b/c I'll never buy anything from Apple), Voice Control (useless IMO) and parktronic (get this if you are a bad driver)
I love the Bi-Xenon headlights, heated seats, keyless go, electronic trunk closer. The options cost $$$, but are all well worth it and I'll never buy a car with those from now on.

A lot of questions. Most can be answered by searching here.
Are you buying it yourself from Manheim? You have a dealer's license? Then you know the prices(?) If it's from a dealer, then that's where they usually will get cars.
Get one from a MB dealer with a CPO. Get a copy of the warranty from them and see what's covered. Mileage matters when it's about a warranty. Less will obviously mean you'll be under warranty longer.
It's still a buyers market. Be picky and have patience.
I agree with Vik that P2 is really worthwhile. I'm spoiled with keyless go and trunk closer. And active bi-Xenons are pretty much default lights on most good cars these days.
fwiw, I have the 'enhanced' VC on my 2009. I think they made big changes in '09. VC is great and works very well. I can located a restaurant with POIs, see where it's located on the map, and call the place, all hands-free with VC. (The new W212 is an even better system from what I have seen.)

i'd buy from a mercedes dealer vs non mercedes dealer. You can buy the extended warranty alot cheaper than one that a non mercedes dealer would offer. I got the extended warranty for $1800 iicrc.

I just picked up a 2007 E350 Winter Edition and would like to add some extras
-electronic trunk closer
-Tilt mirrors for parking
-rearview camera
How much do these options cost and where in the NYC/CT area can i get this done?

Is the Winter Edition what I see defined as E350W? What does the Winter Edition have that overs do not AWD?

I believe the winter edition is the E350W4. The only difference i can tell is that it has the AMG package. Aggressive grill, AMG exhaust tips and the AMG rims

Before I bought my car I was at the big Riverside Auction with my Brother, who is adamant at not paying Dealer prices. I've had my fair share of experience with Auction cars via my Brother, and will probably avoid buying any "nice" car ever at an Auction. There is a certain thing about some of these cars that I can pinpoint, but not really explain, I just call it the "Auction Car" effect. Also, yes, Indie Dealers buy their cars at Auctions as well.
Maybe it's just me being a wimp, but if I can truly afford the car I'm buying, I have no problem paying a $3-5K premium, to know that it's vouched for, inspected, CPO'd, and I can go barking to someone if there's a problem with it.

2007 E350 New owner
Guys,
I purchased my first MB! It's a black on black e350 sport. Love the car!
I want to replace the 10 spoke stock wheels and tires.
The current tires are Falken FK 452. What tires are best on the e350 sport (approved by Mercedes)?
If I purchase 10 spoke stock wheels from a third party and have them installed would this void my MB warranty?
I noticed the wheels do not have locks on them. Could someone recommend a wheel lock?

"Factory" Wheel lock set from the dealer about $130.00 These are not wheel lug nuts on these cars, they are long wheel bolts. (There are no studs sticking out of the wheel hub.)
Best Tires in my opinion for these cars are Michelin MXM4's. Tire Rack has good prices but depending on your MB dealership, they may be competitive too... My MB Dealer is price competitive on tires, & I don't have to worry about improper balancing or Torqueing of the bolts. These cars are sensitive to both.

Good for you! That cost sounds about the amount I'm being quoted. How do you like the Michelin's? The Good Years get high ratings on tire.com.
