Salt stuff all over the engine

I'll post pica a lil later, but this is really alarming ... Its like 'salt' like powder evenly spread-out all over the engine for as far as I can see .... If I rub it with my hand itsheds off ... seems like it got applied with splashing water, not sure what it is .... This can be a rust spreader.. Any remedies ? I checked some engine cleaners/ degreasers but I dont want to end up damaging sensors (electrical components) ... Should I take it in to the stealer ??? If anything goes wrong atleast they're the ones responsible ? Suggestions ?

No idea, never heard of salt under the hood. Are you sure it is salt?

My guess is it’s

My guess is it’s corrosion on the aluminum engine components. Sure looks like salt doesn't it?

Was the car recently detailed by another party? Is this a newer purchase? If either of these are true it could be a spray on engine cleaner which they neglected to properly was off. I personally would never use the stuff myself and I think some detail shops use them as they are easy to apply and make the engine look "pretty" for a bit. I honestly have no idea what your problem could be. Just throwin ideas out there.

It seems like its residual after a water splash or something (waves of salt left over all over metallic parts) ... I checked my other car (CX-7) which is a year old and it has the exact same thing ... I guess its the salt/gravel from the winter ... The question now is how to take it off ... I dont want to use engine detailers, dont know how they affect the metal in the long run..

Should I take it in to the dealer?
