E500 Fuel Injection Cleaning 2003
My dealer indicated that I should have a fuel injection service for $210. This was a pre-purchase inspection and not because I took it in for any particular problem. The car is 2003 with about 95k miles. Is this a standard maintenance that they will all need eventually? Can a fuel additive be used, or are they ineffective?

When i brought my 03 in for its Service C they suggested the fuel injection service as well. I decided to go for it as I haven't done anything in over a year. I got the Service C, new spark plugs (16!) and the fuel injection service for about a grand. Seemed a bit pricey but I've always had the car dealer maintained.
It might be mental but the throttle response improved drastically!
BTW, I installed K&N filters instead of the OEM ones... though it's worth noting I couldn't tell the difference.

I've got a different brand car with 120K miles on it. My last service at my local, trusted mechanic for years said it'll help to get a fuel injector cleaning for a couple hundred $$. I trust him and got it done. I assume this maintenance item is a good thing? Man, don't make me go looking for a more honest shop.

I use Techron additive about every year or so and fuel with techron from the mfg.
