I recommend getting an exhaust pipe expander for 3" (75mm) inside diameter to re-shape the new exhaust pipe sections that slip over the existing pipes after cutting. They can become somewhat out of round from shipment. If you don't have access to one, one can be purchased from Pep Boys for about $24.00 Also, grind or file any burrs on the existing pipe ends after cutting them. These two suggestions will make assembly ever so much easier.

Thanks a bunch Legacy. You have been a big help. I can't wait to get under my car once I pick it up tomorrow!
Since I haven't been under the E-series before, this may be off base. Does the MB exhaust system consist of a series of sections that interconnect at bolted flanges? Or is it a continous welded system?
I'm trying to figure out if Brabus could have made a muffler unit that bolted up to the previous exhaust section and omitted the cutting entirely. Not that that the cutting is such a big deal. The thought of exhaust clamps just doesn't seem consistent under this car. Particularly, at a price tag of ~$2000.

Brabus makes an exhaust system for their 6.1 Liter engine that includes the third muffler at the center of the car. That one bolts up with flanges to the pipes running forward to the headers. It does not apply to the E500. On the E500 stock system, the left side is welded continuously from the center muffler back to the tail pipe. On the right side the exhaust pipe running from the center muffler back does have a break in it, but not where the pipes are cut for the Brabus installation. It will become much clearer to you when you have a look beneath your car.

All this seems very cool - but 2 grand for a new exhaust is a bit steep. It would be nice if somebody came up with a cosmetic fix that could bolt on to the existing pipes. Yeah, getting an extra 5hp would be nice. But as it stands, I'd just like to get some chrome pipes on the back to enhance the look of my e320.

I have kept the mufflers I cut off just in case for some reason the next owner wants the stock exhaust system. I am sure a muffler shop can re-weld them back in place.

Legacy you install those brabus exhaust by yourself or you get someone else to put it for you. Anyway its really look marvelous and i was thinking buy that thing too. but i just bought the rim 19 inch brabus monoblock vi multi piece so i'm a little bit short for the exhaust LOL . Anyway did you change your rear bumper or that's the original?

Rear bumper options
I'm settled on adding the aftermarket exhaust for chrome aesthetics and a little 'rumble'.
Just wondering if anyone looked at any rear bumpers designed to directly accomodate dual exhuast? Can you get an AMG product?
I saw pic's of Lorinser and was not personally in favor of the 'mesh' inserts. Also, I cannot find pic's of the Brabus rear bumper even though they list it on their website. I also looked at FAB-Design but thought the centered exhaust was a bit too contemporary for me.
Opinions/Comments?

Here's an idea. Go to http://www.d2technik.com . They sell and install Brabus items. There phone number is on their web site and ask for David. I just ordered my Brabus exhaust kit from David. I beat Brabus' price and got the kit for $1890. from David.
Good Luck,,,, but David should be able to get you some pictures?
