Each to his own, but that driver side shot with the car that low it makes the rims look like 15 inch, or the wheel well is waaaay to big. JMO
@ulovemybenzo, speed bumps must be interesting or driveway approaches or pot holes, do you drive it often?

Bumper is $500. Paint and all other necessary parts are $750 or so.

^ Looking good, welcome to the forums too! That is about the perfect ride height for me I think - I know it's different judging on 20s, but about 1cm more or so of clearance would be what I am looking for. Nice E320 did you buy it that way or did you pick the wheels and do they vinyl rapping yourself?

Thanks much! Its still a work in progress. I got the car all stock. Did mostly DIY. Painted grille, hood star, hood vent gloss black. Upgrade to 10k HID, tinted headlights and fogs with pacific blue to match blue glass. Painted calipers burnt orange. Wheels, lowering, rear CF bootlid spoiler. X-pipe. Tahts all i can think of right now. Still a long way to go compared to the cars in here. 😔

How low is your car at the door sills. I've gone as low as my wheels/tires and NJ roads permit. I am 4 3/4" off the ground at the door sills; I really need to be careful while travelling over speed bumps or pot holes (plenty in NJ)

Modding your car even aesthetically is always a work in progress, however 10k HIDs are a bit ricer to be honest but the car is looking good!

Thats what i was thinking when i upgraded to 10k but i kinda like the bluish color. Lets just say it grew on me. Hahaha

Planning on doing the E63 conversion too. Im just not sure if its worth it. Down here its more expensive especially when it comes to painting and installation.

Yeah it isn't cheap here either for that matter but I know what the car scene in Australia is like (mostly by watching MCM ) and I can imagine it will be insanely expensive. If you can find an E63 bumper that matches your paint color that would be the cheapest option, however you are pre-facelift so you have to change out some hardware as well and it will be even more expensive and difficult. As for me, I had the cash for the bumper but painting it was almost as expensive as the bumper itself so that's what prevented me from doing so.

Lived there in Cali back in the 90's for some time and I remember modifying cars back then was very inexpensive. My brother still lives there and drives a W203 C230K so I have an idea as to how expensive mods for our beloved Mercs are. I had the same idea as you, been on the look out for a silver E63 bumper but no luck. If I dont wanna shell out the cash for the whole kit and painting /installations, I might just go for the front bumper. what do you reckon?

Parts for Mercedes, modification or not, are comparatively very expensive even for a 2003-2009 car. I can't imagine what it's like down there. California has an interesting car modification scene that is a lot different than here in Colorado - I know that down in Australia you have some crazy traditions with burnouts and high horsepower dragsters that are meant to light up tires, that just seems so fun to me (that and a lot of sport compacts). At least in my state, the car modification scene (excluding ricers) is a lot about creating very fast but reliable daily drivers, almost to the point of being considered sleepers. In California the landscape is much more flamboyant/insane hence the Hellaflush movement and all - however with any of the German 3 I agree 100% that it takes so much more money to do what domestic or Japanese tuners can do on the cheap.

I feel that starting with the front bumper is a good idea, the whole kit is a pretty expensive thing to do. At least for me, I plan to modify my existing rear bumper with an E63 diffuser and tips before I do the front bumper as for some reason I tend to do the less expensive and more numerous mods first so I feel like I'm making progress on the car weird logic but I'm happy thus far. Lowering for me will come right after I install my HIDs and Aluminum sport pedals, because I also have to do an alignment with that.

Sorry this post is so

Couldnt agree with you more! Down here Skylines are dime a dozen. hoon left and right. A lot of V8 Commodores as well. And I know a few people who's into classic Holdens and modifying em for drag. Interesting indeed! Sorry for the off topic.

Now back to our mercs . looking at ulovemybenzo's car, the front upgrade looks good with the avantgarde side skirts. Im just really half hearted with the conversion for now. Wish I can do the whole lot in one go but too expensive for me at the moment. starting with the rear is a good idea too. for me, I still need the muffler if im goin that way. If I get tired of thinking Ill just leave it the way it is!
