CDI owners check your water temp

Cold weather impacts the CDI MPG's no doubt. I noticed my 05 CDI MPG less than usual for a midwset winter. Glanced at my water temp indicator and it was much cooler than normal perhaps around 60c after an hour + of running. Not that the gage is super accurate but it was less than what I was used to seeing. Guy on this board said the T-stat for some reason goes bad on the CDI more than others E's.

Anyhow, Dealer put new one in under warranty part alone was over $100. Back to normal now. I'll hit the road today to see how MPG's have hopefully improved

I don't know if I am having the same problem with my car. I curruntly getting around 9.0-10.5 litres/100km. Should I have mine checked out, if i have the same problem ?

At least something wrong with the car unless you are all the time crawling at a city jam.

How does your engine temperature read?

fuel consumption

I would only add that winter blend diesel fuel has koroseen or some thinner in it. This effects your MPG's a bit as well. Summer blend on a hot summer day gives me the best results. Toss in a tail wind and watch out

car's not driven hard, I do hear some weird sounds upon starting it up after a while, and the engine has gotten louder. I think I should make a appointment with Mercedes-Benz ASAP to have it checked out.
I got the upgraded warranty package for my car, I hope they will cover me.

Running much colder here with an 05 CDI, not sure the exact temp (above 60 below 80c) and I'm averaging 30mpg U.S.

T Stat

I'd say your thermostat is shot, Should run above 80 under 120 about 1/2 way. Expensive part over $100
