05 CDI Water Pump Life Expectancy

My 05 CDI now has over 125,000 miles on it. Do we have any data on failure rates of the water pump? I am wondering if I should change it around now.

IMO you are on borrowed time. I have found the new serp belt and auto tension system gives much longer life on the components. But I also have had waterpumps going out around the 125000 + range vs the 70000 to 90000 on the single belt system.

Just keep an eye on it and you should be ok. If you pull the radiator or other work on the front of the engine you might consider a new pump.

Waiting

I'll probably wait until early spring and change the pump. I recently replaced the belt, tensioner and pulleys, so I can get to the pump in about 15 minutes. I think if I do it myself, it will save between $500-750 vs the dealer.
