Thumbs up Just got my car back from service...

The two issues were ticking on acceleration and static from the HK stereo with the message, "Unable to establish audio connection..."

The annoying ticking sound was traced to the motor mounts, which were all replaced. The car runs as smooth as silk now...

The audio trouble was labeled as, "Found intermittent internal short in CP control module". I'm not exactly clear on what the fix was here, though.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for your help. Thank goodness, 'cause now I'm back in the game! :p

The "CP" control module is the Communication Platform control module. It incorporates TeleAid, all the phone electronics, and the GPS information used by TeleAid operators to determine the location of the vehicle. Let us know if that fixed it.

Where did you take your car for service? Greenway, North Houston , or Star?? Just wondering what type of treatment you got.

Aaahhh... so that's what the "CP" stands for. So, I've heard of these modules overheating, but I gues mine had an internal short. They must have replaced it, but I can't quite tell from the service invoice.

Regarding the service (from Greenway), it was top notch. I actually brought the car by once before and had a technician riding in the car with me within 2 minutes. He acknowledged the ticking, but advised more miles on the car since it only had 150 on the odo.

However, I felt strongly that the ticking was the mounts... PLUS the noise was making the car undriveable! Anytime I stepped on the gas, my blood pressure rose!

Anyhow, I took the car back after a few days, and another tech jumped right in and fixed me up. The treatment from sales to service has been first rate thus far...

Had my mounts replaced

Took my car in to fix a pull to the right, have my tags put on and get a wood wheel. When I picked it up they said they replaced the motor mounts. They heard the ticking noise and did it without even asking. I never even heard the ticking. Dropped it off at 8:00am, picked it up at 6:30pm.

Wow... That's amazing quick... Anyone know exactly what is involved in "replacing motor mounts"? I thought it involved pulling the engine... but it sounds like they can do it quite easily...

Anyone know for sure?

On an E-class, all that is involved is unbolting the motor mount bolts, raising the engine a few inches with a transmission jack, unbolting the steering rack mount and letting the rack drop down slightly to allow access to remove the mounts, then just repeating the process in reverse. It's very easy.

I took mine in yesterday for the motor mount replacement. Dropped it off at 7:30AM and picked it up at 2:00. The work order said they had to move the rack and pinion to change the mounts. 1.90 hours of labor.

The ticking sound still remains though. I had to wait 2.5 weeks for the mounts to be "shipped in from Germany" Something seems fishy about my dealer.

Actually, the Audio Gateway Module (AGW) is the component that has been overheating, not the CP. If your CP had an internal fault, I can guarantee they replaced it. It is not a servicable item.

Hey, Dave...

Thanks for all the help. I actually called the service department and asked about what they did for the CP module. He told me, "They reprogrammed the CP module." I thought this couldn't be correct, especially if it was a short. Certainly, I thought they must have replaced the module.

CP Module

Maybe they are like Microsoft. Just needed a service pack to fix the bugs
