Yes, SoCal (at least L.A) is FULL of W211 E-Classes. I have no idea how the 5-Series has been the Sales leader for so long, as I see 4 E's for every 1 5-Series. C-Classes and 3-Series' are about as exciting to look at as light posts, as there are as many in the city as light posts.

I SEARCHED LIKE CRAZY for a W211 with an AMG Package, as they're super rare, only AMG Benzes have 'em, and even less '03-'08 E's have 'em, I don't mind having a (nice/"premium") car that lots of people drive (hey if it's nice and priced well enough, and/OR, if it has an M-B or BMW badge, everyone and their Mom will buy one), however I require it to be somewhat a "rare" looking version from the factory (i.e AMG Sport Kit/M-Pack, etc.).

Then just months later, M-B releases the friggin' 09's with STANDARD AMG Packages. It's cute to finally see W211's getting the proper treatment they deserve, as the AMG Pack makes a world of difference on them, but kind of ruined the special-ness of having an AMG equipped one.

And if you think that's bad, ALL W212's come with AMG Packages, so EVERY W212 will look alike on the road, no way to get a unique or interesting version, unless you go E63, and that still looks too close to the E350 with standard AMG Package. Too bad.

P.S, the Kardashian sisters are buutt. Kim looks like a Tranny, although she seems to have "toned" up recently.
On a serious note (sort of), I think the e-class is a great car for SoCal. It drives like a dream on the freeway. It's very nimble for a car of its size. My only gripe is that people in LA ding up cars too frequently. Makes me paranoid taking the E anywhere

Yeah, exactly, I feel the E-Class is an ultimate SoCal cruiser car. Not as big as the S-Class, not entry-level like the C-Class, very nice and serene/quiet interior, and unless you're hanging with $$/status hungry types, a nice and clean example commands as much respect as almost any nice Benz. It is incredibly common, but the 211 has held its own, and still looks nice and interesting on the streets IMO, an ode to its timeless design.

Performance wasn't huge to me since you can't use it around here much, so even the 350 keeps me content to be honest.

AGREED about the dings. It drives me nuts. I'm so paranoid about taking my car anywhere, I feel like an idiot because I feel like I'm treating it like a Ferrari or something.... Reality is, WHO wants their car they treat well dinged up? Such a PITA.

That's because the majority of ppl who live in LA lead pretty horrible lives. Why? Not because they have/don't have money. Not because of their wives or kids. So why?

Because of traffic. **** YOU 60 FREEWAY! **** YOU 10, 605, 405, 5, 110, 710, 105! Honestly. It makes you hate your life when you're stuck at 5mph for hours evverry day!

And that's why we have door dings

Good point. Now this makes sense. Although, when I was in Orange County the traffic did not seem all that bad.

1st Palm Springs is not LA. Its a good 2-3 hrs in

What kind of work do you do? Geriatrics? lol

Lookout for:
1) intense heat but it's a dry heat
2) older people with big cars (like my dad)
3) stolen cacti (no really)
4) traffic especially when the Cochella Festival happens

Pluses
1) Weather / golf
2) Joshua Tree
3) Death Valley

So what is it about this part of the country? Why all the E-Class cars?
I think your eye's are locked into E-Class. Or b/c the E-Class (W211) is perhaps the most beautiful sedan MB ever built. MB's biggest sales turf is SoCal actually. So to see a lot of MB's down here is nothing uncommon.

As a matter of fact, I just saw the new white S63 AMG with nice rims and ceramic tinted windows. Looked beautiful that beast!!!

So what? Did 14 million people got deported to the greater LA area and forced to live there? NOOOOOO!!! They must love to drive their cars at 5 mph evverry day of their life. Not one job in the world would make me live in this area. I even handled it to not go up there at all within 1 year and I love this fact and hope many more years to come where I don't have to see anything that is connected with the letters LA or OC.

You, sir, are a smart man, to stay away from daily driving to LA. Parts of OC isn't that bad tho.

Regardless, I applaud you. No sarcasm.

Traffic at certain times is hell in La Jolla, too. I lived in Bird Rock. From UCSD/Torrey Pines to the Village is jammed. Also the 5 freeway is jammed. But not as dense as LA, of course.

We just moved from Malibu to Santa Barbara. Everything here is 10 minutes away. It's another world. But the 101 is jammed from SB to Ventura/Camarillo in the evening because people live there and work in SB. The only real place left that's traffic free in CA is way farther up north, imho. Or out in the middle of the Mojave.

Ser05E500: Palm Springs is a true desert town. The Rat Pack are all dead and so is Palm Springs now, lol. Look out for Liberace's ghost. But depending on your sexual orientation, you may like it. Otherwise if you're into golf, you'll be happy.

palm springs is an older town vs palm desert, la quinta, rancho mirage, etc are really nice newer towns. very nice homes and communities. you also see a fair amount of young retired people (when i mean young i mean in there 40s or 50s).

most people that retire in palm springs is because they were former military specifically officers and higher nco's and they retire after 20 years and theyre set for life, and they retire in palm springs because it was close to 29 palms marine corps base.

like i said palm desert is a nicer area. i don't mind the heat too much so it doesn't bother me since i go in the peak summer time as well.

lol, a great thing i love out there is the speed limits are higher on the roads than in LA

Everywhere where desert is in CA the speed limits are higher. 70 is the max though. Nevada has 75 mph as a max speed limit. Oh well...

LA has good jobs and SD really doesn't (unless you work in Pharma)

Also the 5 squeeze in Solana can be absolutely brutal. In SD there really is only the 5 and the 15 so traffic is not as good as you think.

Don't agree, drive from LJ at 5pm today to Carlsbad and time it

Oh yeah, definitely more imports in SoCal vs Chicago.
