Also the 5 squeeze in Solana can be absolutely brutal. In SD there really is only the 5 and the 15 so traffic is not as good as you think.

Don't agree, drive from LJ at 5pm today to Carlsbad and time it
True, but still no comparison to the LA traffic.

I agree that traffic in San Diego is no comparison to LA. LA is much worse. Traffic in SD is mostly during weekday rush hours. But in LA (especially near LAX), even on the weekends there is traffic. Plus the drivers are more aggressive in LA, and will not hesitate to cut you off or tailgate.

Couldn't have said it better... 805 south sucks a bit between 3pm and 6pm but what is that compared to almost 24hr traffic in LA? Nothing. 15 north at the same time sucks between Mira Mesa Blvd. and Escondido. But that is mostly due to this 10+ years going construction of the HOV lane not b/c of too many cars. And the 5 south is just bad between La Jolla Village Drive and downtown in the late afternoon hours. Knowing this with some time management and you can avoid most of this traffic.

But you're talking about 3mm in SD county vs 10mm in LA county. It's a city of cities vs a 1 city/towns. There really is no comparison. My point is that SD is no picnic

In LA's favor you actually have a grid (sort of) of highways. You don't really get that in SD.

As mentioned on another website

This will help you get an idea of the traffic congestion in San Diego compared to other metro areas:

National Traffic Scorecard

San Diego's congestion isn't even close to the amount of congestion in L.A. In fact, San Diego has actually been moving down in the rankings of the most congested cities. In 2006, it was the 12th most congested; this past year (2009), it was #17.

Yeah, try the big-rig infested 60 westbound at around 7-8am...pure torture all the way to LA. And don't forget that 1 mile break of faster-flowing traffic around Hacienda...talk about a tease.

Sup E92! I remember buying some fogs from you last year
