HELP: How to Fold Backseat?

Does anyone know how to fold the backseat so I can have full access from the trunk in a 2005 E320? I've read the manual but cannot follow through.

Is it possible that my car's backseat cannot be folded?

When you open your trunk you should see 2 handles one on the top left and one on the top right. Pull those handles to release the seats.

i would add, to fold the seat backs flat you need to fold the seat cushions forward first. My handles in the trunk have red warning stickers on them.

Thanks, Wampa, for the picture!!!! That really helps. Unfortunately it seems that my car does not have this feature. Arrrghhhhhhhhhhh. I will have to make sure I add this option when purchasing my next one!

My car does not have this feature either. This has been a standard feature on all the less expensive and cheaper cars I have owned. How could MB be this stupid to add this as a optional feature???

Back folding seat optional but sunroof and NAV standard?????Hmmmmm

I agree with the above statement, but the only reason I can see it being an additional cost option is that MB made the system incredibly overcomplicated. When you pull the handles, the headrests go down, and when you go to fold the seats, the front seats move forward automatically to give you room to fold the bottom cushions out of the way before folding down the back cushions. All those sensors and gizmos cost $$$ so they make you pay for it.

2005 E320 CDI
Just had my seat back down so I could crawl into the trunk while the wife hosed down the trunk lid.
Looking for source of water leak.
Anyway, what can you do? How far did you get before you got stuck?
I released the seat bottoms and flipped them up (rotate back of seat bottom up and forward until vertical - may have to move front seat forward to get clearance room).
Note: at this point, it is possible to release the seat bottom and remove it out of the car entirely!
Next, I released the seat backs via the levers in the trunk/boot space; mounted on upper corners when trunk lid is raised.
Mind the seat belts as you fold the seat backs down horizontal

Hope I did not over simplify steps.

Good luck,

Hez (2005 E320 CDI)
