Sold my E500 :(
Sold the E500 due to high mileage and out of warranty and bought a 2008 passat 2.0t. Its a nice car...gets good mileage and its certified pre owned. Its black on black with sport package.
I will miss the E500 dearly. In couple of years I will get back into w212 E class for sure.

I loved the E500...The power and torque is amazing..E500 is a true freeway king!! I hated the fact that I always had to change something with suspension..this car is NOT made for midwest and east coast crappy roads.
I changed following suspension parts
Ball Joints
Bushings
Control arms
Upper Ball joint
Rear shocks
and was waiting for the front shocks to go bad..airmatic is a scary thing!
I couldnt take all the stress with owning this car out of the warranty. I will be keeping my eye on the w212 forum as to the quality of the w212 but a warranty on these cars is a MUST!
Thanks to all of you for all of your help! Saved me a lot of trips to the dealer on stuff I learned how to do my self!

Bushings

Upper Ball joint
Rear shocks
and was waiting for the front shocks to go bad..airmatic is a scary thing!

every time i hear sounds from the suspension while driving my heart skips a beat. i hate the way the sbc brakes work too, compared to conventional abs brakes.

Perhaps the W212 will be more reliable, but I was VERY disappointed w/ the interior quality and seats. For $60k MSRP, you get the E350 w/ some funky shaped seats. In particular, the back seats appear very hard/angular, and it feels both smaller and less comfortable than the W211. Amazingly, you can get a CPO 2007 E63 for less than new E350 w/ the crappy interior, LOL.
