Parts Places

Hello everyone, I need to replace my belt tensioner. I have a 2003 E320. Just looking for some places you guys order your parts from. I have quite a few things I would like to replace: shocks, struts, ball joints, trans filter and things along that line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to get my wife's car back to the way it was when she first got it

First I would join your local chapter of the MBCA. You will automatically get 10% at the dealer for parts and labor, as welll as discounts at such places as http://www.bmwmercedesparts.com/part...?siteid=215771 . Sometimes the dealer price is close by the time you add shipping.

There are suppliers in the vendor directory that can also help.

I buy all my parts from Rob Lewis (Parts Mgr) at Westchester MB in OH. They have an account set up for MBWorld and offer discounted prices for members. I just recently replaced my belt, idler and tensioner pulleys at 99,000 miles (also an 03 E320). I've bought parts from them for a few years now with no complaints. Give Rob a call at 513-870-1030 (or 1004).

BTW, my part numbers were:
Belt -- 014-997-71-92
Idler -- 000-202-00-19
Tensioner -- 112-200-09-70

Regards,
paul...

Thankyou guys for your input but after doing a little homework I found out what the problem is. I used a stethoscope and narrowed the whining to the ac compressor/pulley. I did use the search and found several stories but nothing about replacing the pulley or compressor. Is it true that only certain compressors, you can just replace the pulley or would i have to replace the whole compressor? I ve noticed that the whining is getting louder as time goes on. So I want to take care of this before something worse happens! Thanks to everyone!

Don't dismiss the tensioner pulley yet -- if you can see the tensioner pulley oscillating while the car is idling and the AC is running on full, the tensioner should be replaced.

Thanks paulv for the response but i can say with about 95% confidence thats its the ac pulley. That stethoscope nearly deafened me when i ran it across the ac pulley! I've tried to use wd4o but that didnt do anything to stop the whining. i will try to tackle the problem when i hear from konigstiger since he has the procedure for fixing it. Will keep anyone updated whether win or lose. Thanks again everyone!

I'm not dismissing your AC pulley problem -- just mentioning that you should also check the tensioner pulley -- two different subjects.

Thanks Konigstiger! I found the documents in my wife email (dont know why it transferred over there) The infowas great and a life saver. The pulley actually came off in pieces about an hour ago! Luckily I was just pulling intomy friends yard when i heard all that racket. It sounded like a motor knocking without oil in it! I thought thats what happened!
Sooo after I changed underwear(phew!) I went down to the autozone and bought a shorter belt and hopefully when i go back ina few that will solve my problem temporarily until i order the pulley! Thanks again!
