AC blower comes and goes

AC blower comes and goes
It is hot in Dallas and the Ac unit in my 2003 E500 started a new game. The Blower stops blowing air out but showing the fan speed/bar disply to be working. I have turned the system off and back to on and it works. The air is cold as it should be. A few weeks ago, I had a chirping noise from the blower and I took it out to lubricate the moving parts. Now the chirping is gone but blower stops and go. Please share your thoughts as if I need to replace the blower fan or the regulator or both? Thanks in advance.

You need a blower fan regulator (module) it installs under the dash passenger side. You kan keep the blower running in the mean time if you manually keep it from entering the MAX blower speed. (No AUTO). When it enters MAX (fan speed as in DEF or MAX settings) the unit quits blowing sometimes.
Turning off the car for a long while will reset it but its a known problem in your car. (Had it in my '04 way back when when no one had heard of it... but there is a fix)

interesting, my C55 does that also sometimes. I have stopped using the AUTO mode which seems to cure it. I leave the fan on 2 or 3 and it's fine. I wonder if this module is bad on my car?

It is logical to replace them both, I agree. I started looking at few online MBZ part stors today and they all offer a a same brand OE with different part #s. is there a difference between parts? The prices are almost the same.

2308210251 installed at production, replaced by 2308216351, replaced again to current 2308216451 - replacement usually indicates modification.

Bought the OE parts and took a few Advil's and replaced the blower and the regulator. the blower was good but replaced it anyway. I am happy now, it works great. Thanks to all good comments.
