Bluetooth Puck (Puck with Tail) Microphone question.
I have a 2004 E320 where I retrofit a bluetooth-puck-with-tail. When I talk to people they always complain that there is lot of noise in the background...and that my volume is low.
I am trying to establish where the location of SOS microphone is (used by puck). Is there a way to add a microphone? or to replace existing with a better mic (maybe unidirectional one)?
pictures will help.

Step 1: get puck with tail
Step 2: undo 4 screws in armrest - top part - remove faux floor
Step 3: plug in puck to the only available harness neatly tied in there
Step 4: put floor back (you may have to pop a round pre-cut area in front to allow for wire
Step 5: go to dealer and have your car version coded for telephone attached.
(yes I said telephone and not bluetooth - thats soemthing totally different in MB world . BT puck poses to be a motorola phone cradle for SOS device).
Personal note: Its okaaaay. since SOS is for emergencies only, mic is really crappy. lots of background noise and low mic volume. I have always had ppl complain. BUT worth the effort in my opinion.

MBWorld Fanatic!
ya, the 03 - 04 ones had 4 mics in the rearview mirror that were pretty crappy from what I've heard, but I've heard that the 05+ ones come with 3 mics that are better, but not sure

Phone works, but with some background noise.
Have not updated the COMAND software since factory (2004 model year)
What will step # 5 do, if anything....?

Nothing - your car is already version-coded if phone works. Mine was not version coded from factory so I had to go to dealer - on the other hand, my friends puck worked out of the box without version coding.

I have an '06 W211 with Nav and P2. I think it's pre-wired for phone as there is a "Phone" option within the Nav/Command screen. How can I determine if I just need a Bluetooth puck, is there a place I can physically check for this connector? And if that's all I will need, what part number would I be looking for?
Was looking into this unit, http://www.incartronics.com/MBMost.h...&VIM=1#itronic, but I'm not sure if that's exactly what I need to enable Bluetooth on my car.
Thanks much.

It should plug right in and the set-up/progamming was easy.
First I used a V3 Razor phone, nowadays a 3GS iphone.
The system works fairly well, but crappy microphone, or so I have been told.
Never been on the receiving end of a phone call, but have heard the connection is pretty good when the car is not moving, driving at the freeway I get complaints of back ground noise, possible tire/road noise.
Was hoping my new tires would cure some of the problems, but the Potenzas are pretty noisy as well...

I know this is an old thread but I'm wondering if there's a chance that my 2005 which was built in 2004 has the connector needed to install the bluetooth puck with a tail. Is there any way to tell without taking the center console apart? Thanks!
