Jade black/Melanite Black

Jade black/Melanite Black
I've picked Melanite/Jade Black (code 185) for my E55 but wasn't EXACTLY sure what it looked like. My dealer got a Jade Black E320 in stock so I went over yesterday to see it 'in the metal' and make sure I wanted it. It was a cloudy day and I was amazed how black it looks if it's not in direct sunlight. There's utterly no hint that it's a green car as opposed to black opal which has a bit of a different tint to it even in indirect lighting. In sunlight though, IMO this color will be utterly beautiful, a deep dark jade green. I'm waiting for a sunny day to go see it again but after looking at it under artificial lighting I still think it looks incredible.

Hmmm, it's hard to tell with such tiny pictures. Perhaps you should attach some larger ones, although I wonder how the website could support them.
BTW, do you really buy 2 new cars every year?

Now I can't make my mind up
These photos have made me really curious what jade black looks like in person. My dealer told me yesterday that he had an E320 in stock in that color, but when I visited the lot it was nowhere to be found. If I like it, there will be another Jade black E55 on the continent. So much for exclusivity Kaneman. I saw a capri blue E500 on the lot that looks sweeeeeeeeeettttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's abso-frickin-lutely beautiful in the sunlight... on a sunny day this car will look just amazing... even moreso with the 19" two-piece wheels... which should be here any day. Wonder if I'll get any strange looks for those loooong loving gazes I'll be giving them???

I have a Jade Black E320 Sport. It is a stunning color. In pretty much all lights, the car looks black. But in direct sunlight it has a deep, green sparkle. I've never seen a color quite like it.
I am 100% satisfied with the color. I love the fact that under different conditions, the car takes on a different color. Not to mention the fact that Jade Black is quite rare.
Its also different at a distance compared to close up. At a distance, it almost looks gray. Like a deep metalic gray. But then when you get close to it, it starts to take on the green shades.
As you can see in the first picture I attached, the car looks black. But on the close up, under the flash (look in lower left corner) its green.
I would definately go with Jade Black over regular Black or Black Opal any day!

Jade Black
The color is gorgeous! Unless there is direct light on the car it looks black...and the beautiful green comes out in direct sunlight. The green also shows well under artificial light.

Another pic
Here's another with a little 'green' showing on the bumper....
Those considering this color really need to see it under various lighting conditions to fully appreciate its beauty.

aplato,
What color is your interior. It looks lighter than charcoal but the interior looks to be the same color as the dash which leads me to believe that it is charcoal.

STKLAW, it is charcoal.. Its just the flash that makes it look like that - I just had a friend of mine who is a photographer take pics of my car and without flash so the charcoal comes out right.. Look for my thread in a bit

Yeah, as another member said, it is charcoal. The flash tends to make it look lighter then it is.
After having a E430 with oyster, I am glad to have a dark interior again. The charcoal with the black birds eye maple is awesome.
