2007-2009 E350 Bi-Xenon - Option or Std?
I'm still trying to learn more about the 07-09 E350 series (USA specs) because I'm probably going to buy one this month...or maybe a new 2010.
I'm looking at an 08 E350 that has the Prem 1 pkg, the Avant Garde sport option and headlamp washers; does this mean the car has bi-xenon headlights?
I've looked at the 2008 E350 sales brochure and it indicates that bi-xenons are part of the Prem II pkg, and it doesn't list bi-xenons as an individual option nor as part of the Avant Garde sport option. So how did all of these sport E350s w/ Prem 1 get the headlamp washers?

I'm pretty sure the bi-xenons are either a standalone option or part of the PII package. MB changes this all the time so it is tough to keep track. According to Edmunds the headlamp washers are not standard equipment either.
Little piece of advice, if you're going to get a W211 E-Class be sure to consider the 2009 model as the electronics are MUCH better than the 2007-08 models. I assume an 09 is in your budget if you're considering possibly getting a new 2010.

not standard, part of P2. Not even the CLS gets BiXenon standard. Pretty lame on MBs part since a 328i coupe or G37 come with HIDs standard and a $50K plus Benz doesn't. Go figure

I can't speak for all Xenon lights on all cars, but the Bi-Xenons on this car are absolutely amazing... a must have item. Once you drive with them, you'll know.
Those who haven't driven this car with these lights don't know what they are missing, pure and simple. Look for a P2 car.

Brighter, whiter light. (Not Yellow at all) Incredible visibility at night. Throws a bright light and a full, complete pattern. Active cornering Bi-Xenons turn with your steering wheel to illuminate where you are about to go.

Uh, this is all very interesting, but I still don't have a clear answer to my basic (rephrased) question: On an 08 E350 with USA specs, if this car is equipped with the headlamp washing system, then does it mean this car is also equipped with bi-xenon headlights?
That is: headlamp washing system = bi-xenon headlights. True or False?
Thanks again.

In 07s they had cars with headlamp washing systems but no BIX. The sport version is the Avantgarde of ROW. That one carried BIX and washers std; everywhere but the US. It should've been fixed by 08. If all else fails pull a bulb. That way you know for sure.

For W211 '07-'09, Bi-Xenons are NOT standard, or stand alone, or in P1. They are only available in P2... or if the previous owner got the car retrofitted with some aftermarket ones.
Hope that answers your question.

Get the VIN of the front plate below the windshield on the driver's side and take it to the dealer if you are buying private. Ask them to pull up the build spec for the car which they can do quite easily and go over the list. The part guys should be able to help you pin down the PN for Xenons. They should do it willingly as you become a potential customer for service which is a fight these days for most dealers.

Up here in the great white north these cheapos give us HIDs as an option unless you get a packaged deal. My 2009 E350 wagon had no options available but they bolted them in as standard. You could get a Canadian spec car as it will pass California.

Only con I can think of HID's/Bi-Xenon's is that they cost a lot more to replace.
Also, it is kind of annoying when you're in another car, and a HID car is right behind you, or right across from you, as the light is too intense. Gets me P'O'ed at the other car sometimes.

Not talking about factory hid lighting. Just read the very first sentence. This thread wasn't talking about aftermarket hid.
