Angry Brake Failure 07' E350

Hi guys this is my first post so...here goes. I just bought an e350 with 41k from a broker in Atlanta jun 12. the terms for me buying the car from the dealer was the brakes be taken care of, the car is still under warranty. I get the brakes repaired and i pick the car up and the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. Long story short the car has been at MB service center for the last 3-4 weeks and they cant figure out what the dang issue is. I have been told that the service techs have been talking to other MB techs in Germany to figure this crap out. This is my first Benz and after this is over it may be my last. I hate to step on any-ones toes who services MBs professionally but does anyone have a clue what may be wrong????????????????

Let me assure you that this is a rare occurance as 07+ E-Class W211s are extremely solid cars.

Glad to hear the car is still under warranty and that MB is trying to sort it out.

Question:

What dealer has your car? Makes a big difference.

OK, those guys are pretty good (hope they still have the same SA's and techs) but sometimes they do drop the ball on some things from time to time. Be glad it's not Buckhead Mercedes or Mercedes South. Some real horror stories.

RBM South/North have been the best places to get issues like that resolved. Stay on them to get the issue resolved, so you won't get lost in the pile. 3-4 weeks is a long time for a brake issue.

If the brake lines have been OPENED then the only way to bleed the new type ABS pump as used on new E class and C class is to use a preesure bleeder, get someone to pump the pedal at the same time and in some cases the pump needs to be actuated using star at the same time. If this isn't done then the pedal will always be soft. This doesn't apply to normal bleeding/brake fluid change.

I had this problem when I first changed a ABS pump on a W204, had me going for a while as to why it wouldn't bleed properly.

Can you help out the bleeding and pedal firmness by driving and braking hard enough to activate the ABS system to drive out excess air from the ABS pump system?

Just curious?

After 1 month(?) they are just starting to look at this? I would suggest asking a fellow member Konigstiger about this issue. He has always been helpful about in depth information with weird problems. Look him up on the forum.

Update>>>>>>>>>>>> It has been 6 weeks and 1 day since i had my 350. I am beyond angry if such a thing exist. I have been patient and waiting because i like to try these things and see if i can actually achieve such...and now i have officially boiled over. I have paid 2 payments on this car since purchasing in june, and with those two payments i have only driven a total of 3 weeks and 3 days. Talked to MB last week and haven't heard anything from them since, the last word was that they( MB ) were ordering new calipers and they hoped that worked....How the f%$& does a simple brake job go so terribly wrong. This forum has been my only venting tool and I thank you all for at least reading and keeping up. I am now considering a legal option(getting rid of it) in this matter because it makes no sense that I feel like I have the only freaking astronomically unimaginable problem car ever in the existence of MB.

Any questions, concerns or suggestions please speak thanks

If you tell MB customer care (toll free number) that you are getting a lawyer for them to buyback the vehicle or atleast get you reimburse for you have paid on the car since it is in the shop. MB will basically bend backwards for you. Let us know how it goes.

Its a crazy( )situation it may be on the broker i bought it from since they have already chucked $1400 at this issue so yea... they may be buying it back. But I still may contact MB customer service tomorrow or Monday and find out what is the deal exactly. Thanks for the suggestion.

Six weeks for a brake job only explanation is that "...what we have here is failure to communicate..." or one or more service department individuals who qualify for pink slip pronto!

Only step I would consider at this stage is to arrange a meeting with the MB Rep at the dealer's Service Center, to bring things to brass tax in common English charted and floured only with concrete target completion dates. An attorney will not fix the car and will allow less to recover your obligation, so try to play hard ball on your own through MB USA.

Good luck...

It looks like it may be time ... high time, at that ... for you to rescind your purchase contract, demand a full refund, take your money and walk away. You're in the driver's seat, so to speak. You hold all the good cards. Don't squander your advantage. Get your money and leave.

If you put a lawyer or an attorney to MB customer care, they will listen to you and a good chance will either take of the situation ASAP!!! Because having break issues is a serious endangment problem, it can be the service that suck, but either way it is still MB. My bro in law did this and they took care of the buy back right away (he had another issue, not break issue). MB can be sued for way more than the car in punitive damanges if they knew this was a preventble thing. If it was me, I dont mind the wait time, but that all depends on how the service dealership communicates with me on the issue and obviously this serviceship is Beeessssssin around!

The 07+ W211's have a standard braking system (non SBC). I cannot believe any competent shop could have a car for 6 weeks without figuring out how to fix the brakes...

God forbid it was an actually complicated issue that takes diagnosis. I honestly doubt this particular car contains the most complicated braking system known to man.. it's more likely that the techs working on it are one level above a primate...
