driving me NUTS!!

so since i've gotten the car i've noticed that when i turn i hear something moving from side to side. It's been bugging me, so i finally got around to try and look for it.

It sounded like something rolling under the passenger side seat, but something moving across plastic. so, the other day i lifted up the seat all the way and found nothing but loose wires, so i ziptied them even more and called it a day.

the next day i drove the car and it didn't go away. tonight i come to find out that it is coming from the center console! the very rear part of it, so i assume maybe the ashtray (something fell back into it and into the center console) THEN i noticed that the rear vents are facing up.. so now i am guessing it was the previous owner that had kids and they must have shoved something small down there.

Is there any way to remove that rear console cover where the rear ashtray/vents are?? i tried but couldn't find anything. the noise is loud and consistent, it's driving me NUTS!

Did you ever get the problem solved because I have the same issue. I hear something rolling around in the center console. When I stop and then start going again, I hear it and when I make a turn either right or left, I hear something rolling around in the center console.

no, still driving me nuts.
i took the rear vent cover off and found nothing. i think something fell between the crack where the center console cover rolls back into. it needs a tiny 5 point tamperproof bit to get behind where the bluetooth module is.. but i haven't ever gotten the chance to try that, maybe because i have to buy the bit and i'd hate to get it then not even be found in there.. it's still there and i can always hear it!!

We have to get this solved. I dont think anything fell into the console. I think that would be too ironic that both you and I had something fall into the console. Something is going on under there though. I may have to take it to the dealer if it continues, which I'm sure it will.

I would take it to the dealership if I had any warranty left.. but i might take it to my MB tech on my next day off, in a couple weeks.

i've noticed that if you hit it, sometimes whatever is in there will get lodged until you turn sharply... then of course it's back to moving back and forth under there. doing that bought me a good week without the noise once. it's definitely something completely loose rolling/sliding around.

I have alot of warranty left so I will probably take it in, but I just had it in the shop on Presidents Day, so I hate to take it back again so soon. Maybe in a few weeks. I'm really curious to know whats going on under there....I wish I know how to take the console off because I might just try it myself.

Funny that you should say that because honestly thats kinda what it sounds like is a marble rolling around under there, but theres no way that anything as big as a marble could have gotten in there.

I cant believe that only myself and RPmb350 are the only two that are have this problem.

Maybe we are losing our marbles???

Finally took my car in for routine service and told them about the noise coming from the center console. It has been fixed!! This is what my bill says:

"Center console slide cover stop broken, replaced upper section of center console with storage compartment"

I think the part # listed is 685685? Is that a part #? Thats what they have listed for the center console anyway.

Anyway...........finally solved. Hope this helps.
