AMG Package
I'm just wondering, for those who have an E500 and added on the AMG body kit (bumper, side, front, etc... & wheels), what is the overall cost? Is it close to the price of a new E55? Thanks.
Ordered the rear decklid wing from CEC Wheels. Check out there website, call , and talk to Albert. Good guy. Can't remember the exact price, but it was about $464 USD.
I like this wing because is a subtle accent. I seen it in several pictures on stock Sports Packages and as well as with AMG styling kits.
Here is one of the pictures:

You can add the exterior accents, but at the end of the day, they are just the accents.
It's really too bad that MB to the cheap way out on the sport package (at least in the US). The previous sport packages with the AMG wheels and sportier accents were so much nicer and a great relative value.
I have debated adding the wheels and exhaust ( i cant stand the hidden exhaust on a sport model for some stupid reason) but decided to leave mine 'As Is' because, at the end of the day, they are all minor cosmetic changes to an already great car.
"The muffler kit came with the following:
(2) AMG mufflers with dual oval chrome tips
(2) rubber hanger/bushings
(2) exhaust clamps
The box also contained some paperwork written in German. From what I can tell, it specifically says "for W211/E500".
The part numbers directly off of these mufflers is as follows:
A211 209 490 03 01 (this is the left unit)
A211 209 490 02 02 (this is the right unit)
The hangers/bushings have the following part number:
A203 492 0444
There were no part numbers on the exhaust clamps."]
Are these mufflers designed to slide onto the existing exhaust pipes after cutting the OEM mufflers off? How do they attach?
The OEM exhaust system has a center resonator with a flange upstream of it that connects to a mating flange that is attached to the exhaust pipes coming from the catalytic converters. From the resonator one exhaust pipe runs directly to a muffler in a continuous run. On the other side there is a break in the exhaust pipe with a clamp to connect the pipe from the muffler to the pipe from the resonator.
I assume that Claus Ettensberger Corp. was unable to obtain the twin single outlet exhaust system and its companion rear bumper. Is this the case?

OK, answer to the first question: The new mufflers are designed to slide onto the existing exhaust pipes after the 'original' mufflers have been cut off. The new mufflers (they are OEM as well) come with the necessary O.D. reduction to slide onto the existing exhaust pipes of the E500. Mercedes-AMG ship these mufflers with exhaust clamps, but I am going to have them welded in place and not use the clamps.
I agree with your description of the OEM exhaust system. Mine looks the same. Below is a picture of the OEM exhaust system detailing where the new mufflers get installed. This picture came directly from a small booklet that was shipped with the Mercedes-AMG mufflers:

Legacy, not quite sure what your describing in your last paragraph. CEC was able to supply the OEM AMG mufflers (2 of them, each one with twin chrome outlets, and each one with a single input). CEC was also able to supply the OEM AMG companion rear bumper with all of the mounting hardware. It even came with the black plastic applique that BENGGOLF describes in previous posts.
I hope all of this made sense. If not, I can post pictures of the parts.

I also have the corresponding Mercedes-AMG rear bumper (also supplied by CEC Wheels). The muffler is actually sitting on top of the box containing the bumper.
Hope this helps

According to German tuner http://www.kicherer.org/
the price for a complete set of E55 costs 3,550 Euro (price incl. AMG exhausts)
Front spoiler = B6 603 6143
side styling = B6 603 6145
Rear spoiler = B6 603 6147
whoever can host the entire price list in PDF file, please let me know. Mike

Please note that with exception to what you have listed as front spoiler; those numbers are exactly what I have in my invoice as the E55 aero kit.
In my case they are:
Front Bumper Kit - B6-603-6144
Side Skirts - B6-603-6145
Rear Bumper Kit - B6-603-6147
Please be guided.
I assume the instructions indicate precisely where the OEM pipes are to be cut.
I am also curious as to the sound of the new mufflers compared to the OEM mufflers and any change you perceive with them - good or bad - in output, torque, etc.
Your detailed photos, part numbers and pricing are very much appreciated.

My car goes in tomorrow to have the rear wing, bumper, and exhaust work done. Should have it back by the end of the week.
I'll post an update.
I love the kit...but i'm not sure if I should buy it due to the fact that I don't want to do suspension mods. The kit may look bad without lowering the car...what do you guys think?
I'm not quite sure that the E55 sits any lower, if that's what your referrring to. It may look lower as a result of different bumper facia and side skirts, but I don't it does by anything considerable. Does anyone know for sure?
When I checked the specifications of an E500 and an AMG E55 on the MBUSA website I was suprised to find out that the E55 actually sits taller than the E500 (57.2in vs 57.0in). I understand that the E55 has taller wheels (18 in vs. 17 in.) but the profile of the E55 tires are also lower.
My opinion...it will look fine. Check out Benggolf's photos for a closer look.
Why this package is not offered in North America we can only speculate, but it can still be had at no real price penalty. At least that is my opinion.

That being said,I have no problems with you guys that are doing it because I know it will look really nice, and if you like it no worries, right?I will post pics when Im done, and would love to see pics from you guys that are going with AMG.....
As requested, here are photos of my car. Hope you like the results so far.

The 4-tipped exhaust system is not yet installed. What arrived was the dual single-tipped exhaust (Euro Sports Package version)! The correct exhaust system is now been re-ordered.
The aero kit includes only the front/rear bumpers and side skirts. You have to order the wheels/tires and exhaust system separately.
Since the job order is still pending, all the part numbers are still with the dealer. I will post details when I get the JO.
Meantime, I suggest you contact your MB dealer. Now that the E55 is available in the USA, the P&A department should have all the part numbers.
Front bumper with fog lights and headlight washers - #B66036144 is USD 1,055.
Pair of Side Skirts - #B66036145 is USD 780.
Rear Bumper for Two Twin-Outlet Mufflers - #B66036147 is USD 774.
Pair of AMG Mufflers with twin-outlets - #B66036142 is 1,008.
All are unpainted. Installation extra. Shipping Extra.
Delivery is approximately 3-4 weeks after order from Germany.
I saw similar parts from AutoClass.net in Miami, FL:
Front Bumper #B66036144 for USD 1,150 + 70 UPS Ground
Side Skirts #B66036145 for USD 840 + 68 UPS Ground
Rear Bumper #B66036146 for USD 890 + 70 UPS Ground
I don't know what, if any, is the difference between Rear Bumper #B66036146 and #B66036147. I do know that the two bumpers, front and rear listed from CEC Wheels do not include Parktronic or Distronic sensors, neither of which I have anyway.

It is assumed that the existing bumper guards will be re-used on the new bumper. Since they are a seperate part and snap onto the bumper, it is very easy to re-install onto the AMG bumper.
So, it you already have Partronic or Distronic, they can simply be removed from the original bumper and re-installed on the new AMG bumper.
If the car is new and the paint shop is experienced with MB paint, they may not even need painting.
