273 idler gear of the chain drive needs replacement to modified part. Repair is covered under warranty however, MB will not approve repair unless fault codes are present. Out of warranty, MB has offered goodwill assistance towards parts & labor on a per case basis if fault codes are retrieved. Even if purchased from MB dealer, without fault codes doubt they will perform repair for precaution.

Important factor for approval is customer loyalty. Importantly if there is a history of having past and/or present vehicle(s) serviced by MB dealer - routine maintenance, repairs, etc. as confirmed by Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI).

Thank you............ looks like I am in the affected series........just bought the car two months ago with 49K on the odo. Looks like I will have to decide whether to keep it or sell it......feel like I am driving a ticking time bomb now....just waiting for a $5K repair......probably goes up for sale after the first of the year......

Im looking for a W211, preferrably with a V8. Before the face lift, we had the electric brakes that I don't want. Now, is there a model year of w211 that's less likely to be affected by this sprocket material issue?

Hi everyone, was hoping I could get some help, probably off topic, my apologies.
I've been having some strange vibrations issues.
I've replaced the motor mounts twice, tranny mounts, tranny service, left and right front axles, coil packs,plugs, recently just replaced the drive shaft..problem still exist.
Was wondering if it could be this *recall sprocket issue?*
My vin is WDBUF90X27X216482
