electrical consumer malfunction
electrical consumer malfunction
Does anyone else get that malfunction? i just went to dealer today, he told me that it was normal. It shuts off all unimportant electronics, sunroof, parktronic, etc, so the important ones will work. I get this malfunction 3-4 times a day. On a $60k, a malfunction is normal. does anyone else get this malfunction or is it just me. so i can go back to the dealer and tell him to eat it.

That sounds pretty weird - I believe you should tell the dealer to eat it.
Pogo: That same message appeared on my dash when I was driving from LA to San Diego a few weeks back. I used teleaid and spoke with the technician on the road and he said there are two batteries in the car. One battery is low, but it should not be a problem if you continue driving since driving will charge the low battery. Sure enough I have never experienced that message again.

Joseesq is right, there is two batterys, one may be discharged (i believe the one under the hood) when discharged, the battery monitor will shut off non-essential electrics.
the battery under the hood may be, or was discharged.
I don't think "EAT IT!!!" would be an appropiate way of getting anything accomplished, buts it's funny...

For what it's worth, I have never seen a malfunction indicated. "No Malfunctions" is it for me. What you're describing can't be normal! Sounds like you need to get your batteries checked out.
it happened once -- I pressed the air filter button on for preventing smoke but when I turned it off, it triggered the door unlock function??? however, I cannot reproduce this problem.
totally agree lig's point.
What do you expect for 60K?

The consumer shutoff problem should only happen if the battery voltage is below a certain level. For example if you leave the car sitting for a while or if you leave the light etc. on.
If it occurs when you are drivig then do really do have a problem.
These could possibly be an generator or battery fault ,or possibly the battery control module which was subject to a software change on early UK spec cars.
The small battery in the front of the car is purely an emergency batttery incase the main battery or generator fails to power the sbc system enough to stop the car.
Hope this helps.
