not many RWD as AWD was no cost option in 2009. a 4-matic 2009 E350 with AMG sport appearance package in near new shape and less than 30K miles, pano sunroof and package P1 goes for $37.9K at auction. a more stripped down version could go for $34.9K.

dont know what you mean, so i will try to be clear. a "stripped down" car would be considered a RWD without the P1 or P2 optons. they fetch $34.9K at auction in near new consition. as the other person said, maybe $31.9K in average condition. retail would be upper $30s.

the most expensive, high end E350 you can buy is the 2009 with AMG appearence package (upgrades the sports package) and panoramic sunroof WITH either or both P1 and P2 packages. in this case, you are looking at $37.9K at auction in excellent condition. retail on this care is low to mid $40s minimum.

the car (the AMG sport with pano and P1 packlage) was just around $65K new (retail). of course the auction is goign to be less than retail, but the 2009 took its big depreciation hit already due to body change and free 4-matic. From now on out, the value will be solid, especially given the AMG options, upgraded NAV technology (same as current 2011) and the reliability from 2009-2009 due to many, many mechanical upgrades.

The auction price then does not make sense. Doing some more due diligence on my part, local dealers have this car listed for upper 30s. So where does the Manheim dealer auction price really start if local dealerships are listing at these prices ( it does not make sense since some of the carfax paperwork specifically mentions these dealers getting the cars out of auction: so they don't make money! I don't think so. )

1. I do not know where you got that from, but this is nonsence. Do you have a 2009 E350 AWD with P1, pano and AMG "sport" package? Obviously not. I'm now looking at the original 2009 sticker for a white E350 car optioned as above with the MSRP price of...$58,355!!! I paid $56K and change. $65K price tag was for E550, not E350.

2. I do not have access to auction data, but hear me out. When I was getting my W212 car, I wanted to see what I can get as a trade in for my car (exactly as described in #1 above with 10K miles, obsolutely mint). They gave me $36K...... That was last August. I said thanks and kept 09 too. Since then, I've seen several '09 E350s RWD (17-28K miles) at my local MB dealer. None, except CDIs, retailed for more than $40K, if that. So how can an auction bring $38K now for '09 E350 with 30K miles, even in mint condition?

Thanks so much! Great info. Wow so that explains why it took me 8+ months of looking until I found my E550 with the features I wanted. So few of them on your listings.

Does anyone know what the Mercedes W211 breakdowns look like for the different engine configurations for each of the years? is that public info? I'd be curious to see how many of them were sold with 4 Matic and without as well as how many CDIs, 320/350, and 500/550 they have been selling each of the recent years.

Maybe you have short memory. Look at your own post (post #8) where you mention only three options (AMG sport, pano and P1) for MSRP of $63.5K (down from your earlier claim of around $65K). Now you say (and I paraphrase): oh wait a minute there are two more options (you never mentioned before) for $5,200 or so.

Now lets calculate: even if you add metallic paint ($740) and leather ($1,600 or so) you're still going to be under your claimed MSRP by almost $3K. The only way to get to that price (now with 2 extra options you did not mention before), is if your car has a P2 package (not P1) and maybe something else. This is more likely as most E350 built with leather instead of MB tex were P2 cars. Quit a big difference from your original post, isn't it?

My original post related to the request for wholesale auction pricing. I gave the example of the car you quote me saying. My posting was accurate and is supported by the auction listing and recent price data that was posted.

Then, I replied to your bit about dealer / invoice pricing and further gave an example, quote:

You are correct in that most cars dont have the leather. when I originally posted I did say it was based upon the highest end model with either or both P1/P2, still would have supported the numbers I referred to.

Metallic paint is double what you list and the leather is $3,500. If you want my sticker I'll happily scan it. Now stop you BS.
