My outside temp display seems to be way off. It was reading 74 degees last night and it was 65 out. Anyone have the same problem? Get it fixed? What does MB say?

Never heard of it. I assume you were driving a few mintues to allow the temp to "set" properly and adjust to outside ambient temp and not standing still? Also make sure you're set to US (degs F) or metirc (degs C) as apporpriate so you're comparing apples to apples. Another consideration, your MB temp readout is good and your other comparison point is wrong. If you're still off, see your local MB service rep.

Thanks all. I'll do a more scientific test before I go whining to MB. Lord knows I've got enough to discuss with them trying to get this Keyless Go intermitant message "Key Not Recognized" resolved.

I had the same problem with the Outside Temperature display reading high when my car was new. I mentioned it to my service advisor when the car was in for the new motor mounts and they replaced the temp sensor at the time and cured the problem
Recommend you mention it the next time you are in for service.
I asked if they had a temp sensor calibration capability and was told they did not and could only replace the sensor. It seems to me like they should have a calibration potentiometer somewhere in the circuit to quickly check and correct this problem. However, it does not appear to be in the current design.

I wonder if that is the same temp sensor that controls the automatic climate control. Did you have problems with that at the same time?
BTW thanks for the info. I'm taking it in Monday and will mention it.

No, the outside temperature sensor is not in the climate control circuit. There are, in fact, several sensors for the climate control throughout the interior but they do not interact with the outside temperature sensor.

STKLAW: I am having the same problem. Outside temp is 7-8 degrees too high when I get in the car after it sits for a few hours. Once I start it up is equalizes in about 5 minutes. Going in 5/20 for three other problems so I'll add this to the list.

If you read your manual it states something about a short time lag allowing the temp to stabilize after the car has been sitting due to engine heat, heat build up etc. The sensor is normally located in the lower front apron, the sensor in my CLK 500 got stuck on a reading and once I located it I just made sure the sensor was fully snapped in place to the connection...it was in fact, loose.
