anyway to make 05 e500 faster?

so i am new here and my 05 e500 is just a regular e500 with the exception of the designo/sport package but is there anyway to chip it like my last audi or something to make is fast? not a necessity but i get bored fast so i am always looking to do something new. thanks, also, does keeping the car is "sport" mode instead of "comfort" eat more gas? thanks

Faster? Yep. A lot faster? Nope. Well, not without spending a ton.

You are correct, but you would not have bought an E500 if you were going green.

You have a few options when it comes to the E500 and making big power - namely a turbo kit like Atwood's (about $8K, great kit) or something more custom, like a turbo set up (which we can do here - figure $8-10K on that as well, all in). Both of those would put you in spitting distance of an E55 (if not beyond), and the E500 has a better chance of having been driven by a responsible adult, rather than someone who flogged the car until it wasn't worth it (to them) to fix.

I think you made a smart purchase.

True, but you can still do an mpg tune on an E500, as well as switch over to E85. CNG is possible but expensive for something like that.

CNG is possible but expensive for something like that. ? i would def pay for something that would improve gas mileage although 20-22 isnt really too too bad

While I was at RENNtech we worked on a tune that ran a bit leaner than stock, so on a hwy cruise-control it would show like 2 more mpg. It wasn't much, but it adds up over time (esp. at $4/gallon!).

As for E85, we can do a file, update the injectors and do a fuel rail - the fuel is much less expensive and greener, in the sense that it is a bio-fuel, but you use about 25% more of it, so you may not see it back unless gas hits $5 consistently (which it might, come summer).

Did you research "S" and "C" mode? Essentially, it affects your start by dropping first gear. If you mash the pedal in either one it will affect your gas mileage, so do you drive like a granny or a 16 y.o.? Setting your transmission in S or C will have minimal affect on highway mileage and perhaps more in city driving.

The APR stage 1 chip should push a 2.7t from 250 hp (265hp S-line) to 318hp. These are all crank numbers. I had the same chip in my 2001 2.7t. That felt like night and day, and it was only 68hp. The E500 is rated at approximately 302hp. The e55 amg is in the 469hp range. Forget the fact that many say the E55 is underrated. That is a difference of 167hp compared to the 68hp difference between the stock and and chipped Audi. This was just to give you a reference of difference between the E500 and the E55 AMG.

That does suck.

The E500 is not a bad vehicle though. It is a nice looking car and is not necessarily slow. Enjoy what you have.
