I officially HATE SBC...worst brake system EVER!

I've had nothing but problems from my SBC system and the dealer ( along with MB USA ) says it's not covered under their warranty due to the SBC pump it's self not being bad ( according to them ). I've had owned over 20 vehicles with basic ABS systems and they worked flawlessly...this is the first vehicle I've owned with a "different" brake system and it's horrid!

The car brakes fine, but I keep getting the annoying "BRAKE - Visit Workshop" message on my display ( not the red but the lesser black/white one ). At first I was told that it was the brake switch, no luck. Then I was told that it was the pads and sensors. I also changed them with no luck. Then I took it to the dealer to see if they would warranty the SBC and they said it was my pressure reservoir ( which I saw on the scanner that there was a code for the reservoir ). So, I changed the pressure reservoir and it STILL gives me the message.

The odd this is that the car brakes PERFECTLY. It just keeps giving the annoying error.

My recent codes have been the following:
SBC Controller=
C2230 (6230) ESP Electronic Stability Program Control
C2210 (6210) ABS Anti-Lock Braking System Control
C3211 (7211) DTR:The CAN Communication Of The Engine Control Module Is Faulty

This is with my Autoenginuity Scanner. I can't get these codes to go away no matter how hard I try to erase them.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Clear all the faults with the SDS and the start over again to rule out anything else.

I unfortunately have no access to an SDS...only the dealer and they want $120 just to clear the codes ( with no diagnosing what-so-ever ). I have an autoenginuity scanner which can clear the codes but they all just come back immediately ( either that, or the scanner isn't clearing them for some reason ).

Do you guys know if unplugging the battery over an extended period of time will erase the codes?

Connected the batteries back and the errors are still there. Now my freaking radio won't turn on ( the screen displays the AMG logo and then shuts off ). This is getting ridiculous.

So far I have the airmatic clunk in the trunk noise, the fuel smell when I fill her up, SBC and TPMS are giving me trouble and now Comand is giving me issues. Anything else? And I've already fixed some of the other issues the car has had...all this in 4 months of ownership.

If you have a car older than 2007 check the AUX battery under the hood, that powers the SBC brake system and if it gets low, you will get all kinds of warnings from the SBC.

The error you're receiving is probably due to an internal counter that the sbc pump has. If you've surpassed this count, I think it's like 30k pumps then you're supposed to get the pump replaced. MB USA has extended the warranty for this pump to 10 yrs. Mine expired just after the 10 year mark and MBA USA would not authorize a good will replacement due to my lack of service history at an authorized Benz dealer.

If you can't get mb USA to replace then you can either replace on your own dime or get a flashing tool (not das) that will reset that internal counter.

I have one of those tools if you're interested in purchasing it. I bought it for my old w211 but ended up traded it in for my new w212.

"End of service life" code was reason enough for my dealer to replace under warranty.

If it's not an SBC pump end-of-life issue, ask the dealer to check if the ground wire fix was applied to the car.

This warranty has been extended to 25 years for SBC as of this year!

This warranty for the SBC pump through mercedes has been extended from 10 years to 25 years this year as of January I believe or December of 2018. Not sure on the exact date of the letter, but NHTSA had received so many complaints that Mercedes elected to forego a recall investigation and offer warranty periods to take your W211 to the dealer for replacement free.

I know this is an older thread. Did you ever find out what the issue is for this? I have the exact same codes.

Previous replies suggest 'threshold reached' which is covered by MBUSA 25 year extended warranty have MB dealer check it.

how old is the battery under the hood, by the cabin air filter. Measure the voltage on it after 10 minutes then again at twenty 20 minutes, needs to be about 13v.

I keep on receiving codes 6210 (abs anti-lock braking system control) and 6230 (esp - electronic stability program control). Car is breaking just fine, but at one point it had a very sluggish response when brake pedal was pressed. Almost had no response to it.
contacted my local MB dealer and they said they need to diagnose it and see if SBS is the cause and that's $230.

Don't know if this will help you but my brakes on my 2003 E320 were fine, just replaced the pads and when I did that I got the Brake Message, bring to workshop. So my guess was it was the sensor that plugs in the pads because thats the only thing that I changed, THE PADS. lol Maybe if you changed your pads recently the plug in on the pad itself, caused the Brake light message. js. Good Luck. I woke up this morning and had the RED BRAKE LIGHT AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. NO BRAKES WHATSOEVER, WOWSA!!! Shut it off and waited a few minutes and then all was fine. Think its the SBC Pump going.
